I am fairly new to the whole “paid to search/paid to click” game. The only two websites of this type that I am involved with are Searchcactus.com and Netflip.com. The idea of “money for nothing” reeled me in, and although it can be tedious being involved in more than one program, it is easy.
Searchcactus pays you 2 cents for every click, with a maximum of 20 clicks per day for a total of 40 cents. The website’s simple design is very easy to navigate and you can get all your clicks in 6 or 7 minutes with a DSL connection. The only links you receive credit for are the ones with the yellow eyeball next to it. Some categories are more abundant in paid clicks than others. The best one to choose is the books category under shopping. At the moment there are 15 paid links in the category. Simply go down the list clicking each one, waiting 20 seconds each time. You can click each link once per day.
As a search engine, Searchcactus is pretty much standard fare. It is powered by Google, but if it is a search engine you need, just go straight to Google.com.
The website’s instructions claim you need to stay on each website a minumum of 20 seconds to earn credit for it. What I have found, though, is if you simply click-back-click-back-click-etc, you do get credit for some of the visits, even though you didn’t even wait for the page to load. This doesn’t actually save you any time, because you don’t get credit for all the clicks, you have to go back and check your account total.
Searchcactus also has a referral program which gives you a bonus of 25% of each of your referral’s earnings for 12 months from when each signs up. The referral program is only a one-level program, so you do not earn any bonus from your referral’s referrals. Searchcactus allows up to 4 memberships per address, so immediately up to three family members or roommates can be your referrals.
Searchcactus now offers Quick Cash as well. Sign up for the websites and programs offered, and you get the offered amount credited to your Searchcactus account within 10 business days. If you want to take advantage of the Quick Cash options, I recommend you sign up with Searchcactus using a different email account other than your regular one – you will get TONS of junk mail.
The only flaw I see in the Searchcactus design is viewing your account total. You have to log in anytime you want to view your account balance.
Searchcactus claims to send you a check monthly if your balance reaches $20. If you do not earn $20 in a month, it carries over into the next month. I have not made my first $20 yet. As I write this, I have approximately $17 in my account and I joined early November. That’s really not too bad. I click faithfully everyday.
I am giving Searchcactus 3 out of 5 stars. This rating will go up or down once I determine how long it takes them to mail a check.
UPDATE 01/02/2001: I reached $20.00 in clicks today. I will request a check at the end of the month. If I get my check request in by 5:00 PM Eastern Time January 31, my check should be in the mail by the 15th of February. I will keep you posted.
UPDATE 2/24/2001: I received my check when they promised. I have changed my rating of Searchcactus.com to 4 stars. Very good.
