Pros: Superb execution, great UI, rock solid, economical, excellent support of user community Cons: Marginal DAC (optional use), MP3s must have uniform ID tags, requires PC and networking skills
If you think about it, the CD was just a digital extension of the LP record you load up a CD and listen to tracks, just like an LP. A five CD changer is just a glorified record changer.
The AudioTron is radically different. It is the...

Pros: Works very well, is actually pretty easy to configure, web interface is well done. Cons: mp3 only, sometimes gets confused by DHCP, somewhat "large" footprint.
I've had my audiotron for well over a year, and I use it constantly. I have the older rev (which has hpna and ethernet support, although I only use ethernet). Since the machine only requires 10MB ethernet, I was actually able to share the existing ...

Pros: Software upgradeable. Good sound out put. Optical connections. Cons: Sorting thru 13000 songs is hard to do. Ripping cd's takes time.

Digital Music anywhere in your house... sorta
by ur_1bdmf ,Dec 20 '03
Pros: functionality playing mp3's, digital music, and steaming internet radio
Product support
3rd party support Cons: cost
complexity to setup
lack of support or aac and oog
Audiotron is one of my favorite 'Geek toys' second only to my tivo, and that's saying alot. The AT is a little difficult to setup for those that aren't computer savy, but has great support on http://pub90.ezboard.com/bturtlebeach?wb=1 .
Once it's setup, it's worth it. Who wants a pc in thier living room? who wan't to listen to all their digital music w/ out booting a pc? The AT does most of it. It's showing it's age as a product, but I'm expecting alot from the next generation.
