Pros: Large monitor. Good price/performance IF you don't have problems. Cons: Low battery life. Useless warranty. Bad customer support. Defective memory (in my case)
It's too bad a company can put out a product that has good potential like this, and then ruin the whole experience with awful customer service. Of course, many who buy this will never need support, or in my case warranty service, but if you do, forget ...

Good performance, poor hardware
by soonercary ,Sep 25 '06
Pros: Lots of great features Cons: Poor hardware quality
I am reaching my third year of ownership of this model, and have had a satisfactory experience only because of an extended service plan bought at the time of purchase. The features of the computer itself are impressive - very good graphics performance, simulated dual processing, firewire, SD card slot, 2 PC card slots, four USB ports, S-Video out, high-resolution 17" widescreen display, DVD combo drive, Media Center features and remote, etc. What undercuts these advantages is poor hardware quality - I have already had to replace the hard drive once, the DVD drive three times, and the screen has gone dead. Thankfully, all of this has been covered by the extra TAP plan I purchased through CompUSA, which was $500 extra but has now given me well over $2000 in parts and labor just to keep the laptop running.
The P25-S607 should be purchased as a desktop replacement, not a portable. I lug it around for grad school classes but it is very heavy, and its plastic side panels have not stood up well to mobility.
I have gotten a lot out of this computer, but I would not recommend it to other buyers.

Great laptop if you are not a gamer
by trnabout ,Sep 07 '04
Pros: Just about everything. Cons: The Video card is not for gamers and can't be upgraded.
First things first, this is a desktop replacement. It weighs in at about 10 pounds so you're not going to be carrying it around many places. The keyboard is great, the screen is great, the TV tuner/Win Media Ed. is Ok.
The Machine is good for any productivity software, DVDs (watching and creating), TV, Video editing and music. However, if you want to have a gamming option this is not your machine. It comes with the NAVIDIA Go 5200 card. This card will not play many modern games and it's only going to get worse. In addition, the aforementioned video card is integrated into the motherboard so there is no upgrading. If this is one of your needs I would suggest getting the same machine with the Go 5700 card (I think the model is something like P25 707 or something like that).

Best Laptop on the Market!
by dgiacom ,Jan 26 '04
Pros: Large letterbox display that is bright, clear and colorful. Great keyboard and beautiful eye-catching design. Cons: Keyboard could include a few more keys that I've become used to.
This is more of a desktop replacement system instead of a true laptop because of the weight and size but it's an incredible machine! The best feature is the amazing letterbox sized 17 inch screen, which is big and bright with amazing color and clarity. I am a software engineer and can open two windows side by side to work or browse the net. The keyboard is better than my old IBM Thinkpad, which was renowned for having the best. The touch is very light and responsive. I upgraded to 1 gig of RAM, more than enough for what I do. All in all there's very little to complain about. It is truly an impressive PC that will turn heads wherever you go. I'm not sure I could ever go back to a standard sized screen again. The 802.11b wireless modem allows me to roam around the house and work with ease. I'd highly recommend this to anyone.
