I spent just under 8,000 USD for my KDF70XBR950 in August 05 and it recently started showing a blue squiggely line in the center - bottom of the tv. I had a repair tech come out and he told it had a bad optical assy and that I should contact Sony as there was a known issue with this part. I contacted Sony and they claim that while there is a known issue that "my particular issue" wasn't the specific issue covered by the extended warranty. Bottom line is they want $1,400 to repair it. So I am stuck with a peice of junk KDF70XBR950 that I paid more for then my car and Sony refuese to stand behind it. Buyers beware - Sony does not stand behind their products. I can buy a new 73 inch Mitsubschi for $3500 so why pay for the $1400 repair for a product that will just fail again....

There will never be another Sony product in my household!

Cons: heavy and not easy to move

I have more big screens than any one person should. The Sony was my 6th over 10 years. Bought my 70" Grand Wega a year ago and I'm still in awe of the Hi Def quality. Sporting events are better in my living room than in person. Lamp went after 11 months but that has been the only issue I've had. Camera memory stick reader is really cool also. I love my Wega!

Pros: Everything! Wonderful tv.
Cons: Expensive bulb needs replaced too frequently

I love my Sony Wega. It is just a wonderful t.v. I love the the color, clarity, and that it is huge. One thing to be aware of is that it has a bulb that costs about $200.00. Ours went out after a couple of months but the sales rep replaced it for free. Evidentally these bulbs have to be replaced between 1-2 years depending on use and have to be ordered, which takes a few days. Keep that in mind because it is a pathetic sight to see the kids holding a candle-light vigil for the t.v.
I've noticed this tv is going down in price all the time from where it was when we purchased it. I think that is a good thing since it was really overpriced for the market then, but now it is comparable and the greater product for the money.

Pros: Excellent in every aspect other than dirty screen.
Cons: Dusty Screen that you can never clean on yourself.

If you buy this set, you are just buying a headache because dust gets behind the screen which the technician said that it is a 2 man 5 hour job to replace the screen. You cannot remove the screen on your own. I am receiving a 3rd brand new replacement in less than a year from Tweeter. Tweeter has been the best with customer service, if you have a problem they take care of it! I am hoping Sony will correct this problem with future models, I am hoping my 3rd unit will not have this problem, I will say a prayer.
