Too much trouble

by wolf-guy , Aug 02 '05
Pros: Stylish, easy to set up with codes, nice LCD display
Cons: Extremely difficult to program, can't change LCD readout, necessary buttons don't work
Found this remote for $30 and thought I had found a steal but then I tried to use it. It had comprehensive codes and was easy to find the right code. The LCD display had buttons all around it so you don't have to press on the screen which was well ...

Awesome
by aliensoft ,Jul 29 '06
Pros: nice remote with unlimited programming capability
Cons: cant edit lcd button tags
I got this baby for $15 on sale, and I must say it Rocks!! I didn't bother using the preset codes for devices. I spent the time using the learning function to enter all the buttons on my other device remotes. The learning feature lets you select a button on the remote to program. You program the button by holding your factory remote at the back of the sam2000 and press the key you wish to be programmed. I have programmed several devices this way. My VCR, TV, Cable Box, DvD Player, CD Player, Home Theater, and believe it or not even my Air Conditioner. I still have to program my TV Capture Card remote from my Pc, and plan on trying to program the remote for Buck The Talking Deer, but that should only take a few min. So as you can see if you have a device with an IR Remote you can program it into this baby. any one saying you can't clearly hasn't used the Learning Function. This is clearly the remote to have. I have replaced a drawer full of 9 remotes with 1. what more can i say..

Learning feature is a joke!
by haupfear ,Dec 18 '05
Pros: Sturdy construction, backlit LCD, strong IR transmit
Cons: Learning capability is a SHAM!
I bought this sub $20 remote hoping it would be a cure-all for the clutter of remotes in my living room. Everything seemed to be going fine until I noticed that the INFO button for my Motorola HD Cable Box produced Channel 9 instead of INFO. No problem, or so I thought.. I saw this as a perfect opportunity to learn the INFO button from the original remote. The SAM2000 learned the new IR command flawlessly but erased the rest of the factory supplied IR commands for the Cable Box. What good is learning a key or two if you lose everything else? We'll keep the remote for the $15 we paid (Geeks.com) but I'm on the lookout for another remote.

Falsely advertised macro feature. Total samsung's failure
by ikatsman ,Sep 18 '05
Pros: cheap, good looking
Cons: no macros-false ad, small labels, poor code-learning routine, incomplete code-tables
Every seller copied false description from samsung's site that includes macro feature. The SAM2000 in fact DOES NOT have macros (per manual). Other problem with sam2000: Learning feature can not be used on top of brand-specific IR-code tables: if you use learning it selects code 9999 and you have to learn EVERY BUTTON, making setup a full-day task. Brand code tables are poor and don't have specialty buttons as "guide". LCD labels are fixed and too small. I intended to upgrade from sony vl700, but in fact SAMSUNG is a downgrade and it is going back to store!

another paper weight that might go a long way if thrown
by jeland ,Dec 23 '06
Pros: looks good, easy handling, easy to read, wares well, comfortable to use
Cons: does not support existing technology. most buttons do not work like original remotes. pretty useless.
I do not know why this product was produced. Does not work with newest tech. Difficult to find information about. Worthless. I have not tried to see how far I can throw it yet, but......

Worthless!
by mistertwister ,Jul 02 '05
Pros: It's easy to throw a long distance.
Cons: It's not worth the energy to throw it.
See SAM200C Simply the poorest functioning remote I've ever seen. I can't even say "used" because it won't operate anything I have. No Support either.
