Rocky Mountain Radar RMR-D210.... Does this thing work? by chieeeeef ,Jul 06 '05
Pros: Nada Cons: $47.00 for a box loaded with weights. Ask Mike Churchman about it ;-(
I owned several radar detectors in the past. I had a Uniden unit, a Beltronics and a Whistler. The moral of the story is I should have stuck with the brand names instead of opting for brand X. Everything about the RMR-D210 is cheap. From the packaging, to the actual unit itself. This thing looks like something you could get from the dollar store. I bought this unit for $47.00 from the web which I deeply regret. For an extra $2.00 I could have bought a Whistler from Walmart. If you go to the company's website, http://www.rockymountainradar.com/, they make it sound like this Radar Detector is in the same caliber as the Escort Passport 8500. I don't think so! As far as performance go, this unit has such a small antenna you would have to be up in old smokey's butt cheeks before this thing warns you it's better to just have the wife tell you "There's a cop ahead stupid!!" Not Good !! Buyers beware ! Checkout the Radar Buster Gang before making a purchase http://www.radarbusters.com/support/faqs/default.asp
