Audiophase CD player is low quality
by schuddy ,Jan 21 '04
Pros: Is cheaper than most of its competitors. Cons: Skips, buttons stick, Warranty is only 90 days.
Although I don't have a review on the exact product -- MDP Personal MiniDisc Player, I thought readers would like to know about a similar product from Audiophase.
I purchased the Skip Free Slim CD Player w/MP3 playback model CDM450B) about three months ago and not only does it skip, but one of the buttons almost immediately got stuck within the unit, making it impossible to change to a new track.
Unfortunately, the 30-day return policy at Best Buy had expired and the manufacturers warranty is only 90 days, meaning that I now have been gypped out of $31.67.
Any manufacturer that only has a 90-day warranty is in effect admitting that its product is of low quality. This company should clearly state the warranty period on the package, but it does not, since it knows the consumer would not want to purchase it. Either that, or Audiophase should call this product a disposable CD player.

Very Low Quality
by eddie58 ,Nov 05 '04
Pros: Slim Design Cons: No Product support
Can't survive 3 months?
I just purchased an Audiophase Personal CD Player on e-Bay. Though it was advertised as being in good working order, the player simply wouldn't work: the disk spins but there is no sound. I decided to visit the Audiophase website to see if I could get assistance but the website is a nightmare: it just has a homepage that looks like an office lounge, is mainly in French and you cannot look up a specific product or even class of products. A sticker on the back of the player I bought indicates that it was manufactured in July 2004. Just 3 months later the product doesn't work. (I have a cool Panasonic walkman that has worked for years without any problems whatsoever!)To me, all this points to a huge scam. I join my voice to those of the other reviewers: AVOID AUDIOPHASE!

Audiophase "Rugged" Sports CD player
by jimbobber ,Sep 26 '04
Pros: Its cheap? Cons: P.o.S. - plain and simple.
Like the previous review mentioned, this brand is crap. I didn't put this thing through any amount of punishment and ALL of the buttons on the face just stopped working about 40 days after buying it.
I'll not only not buy another product of theirs I will most certainly tell my friends and obviously you reading this DO NOT buy Audiophase products.
To think I passed up the equivalent Sony product for a mere $5 difference. I want smack myself when I think about it.
