Versatile, configurable, and just a tad confusing...

by pepper99 , Mar 08 '04
Pros: Reasonably priced, configurable, plethora of different sound modes and settings.
Cons: Manual missing, display-based setup somewhat confusing, many settings acccessable via remote *only*.
For the last 7 years I have been running my theatre on an older Pioneer VSXD3S receiver. Although it was a beast, it was one of the first AC3 (Dolby Digital) receivers on the market, and way back in 1996, it was the next best thing to sliced bread. ...

Pioneer VSX-D812 7.1 Channel Home Audio Receiver.
by ivanvt ,Dec 31 '03
Pros: Great Sound quality for the price.
Cons: Manual MACCC, Need video outputs to TV for each type of video input.
Im really and audio and video enthusiast but with low budget, after a long research i was about to choose from the Pionner VSX-812, Kenwood VR-7070, Sony STRDE895/S and the Yamaha HTR-5660, after reviewing the spec and hearing the Receiver using a Yamaha NSP436 6.1 Speakers, i decided to pick the Pioneer, ive been using it for 20 days now, and it sounds amazing, excellent sound on both music and movies, easy to use, a lot of sound options (more than i use). Im really happy with my receiver.

Nice reciever made by pioneer the vsx 812k 7.1 channel home audio reciever
by yelve ,Dec 14 '03
Pros: High Power, Name brand, Lots of features, remote
Cons: lot of money
I have this reciever and i'd have to say that i really. if your going for something in this price i'd wouldn't hesitate to buy this reciever. the sound and features are nice and the 7.1 channel output is pretty cool. once you get used to the remote its really nice and you can control anything with it. it has a really bright LED light that really looks cool but can be destracting and hurt eyes in a dark room and change the darkness effect if that what your going for. there aren't really any cons besides the price that it is listed at. it probable is worth it over some crappy reciever but still alot of money for a college kid.
