Pros: - Pretty good at detecting most viruses, can be obtained free after mail-in rebates
Cons: Horrible support, annoying product, see main review
It's funny that the 15-word maximum for listing the pros of this software was more than adequate, yet I couldn't even get started with the cons in that abbreviated space. So, here are my impressions of this software: Cons: - It is frequently ...
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to install and update Cons: If you use "switch user" under Windows XP, this product will not run. Poor support.
You've probably heard it before: "There's not a nickel's difference between the various anti-viral packages out there so long as you keep them current." As a former computer trainer, I used to make statements like that in full faith. After all, of t ...
Pros: Nice interface. Easy to use. Firewall included in product at no extra charge. Cons: Product uninstall and registry problems. Licensing errors and issues. Customer support almost non-existent.
I installed VirusScan 7.0 on my Windows XP system when my Norton A/V expired. I decided it was time to give McAfee a shot after reading a number of reviews, and heck, it even comes with a firewall. What a mistake. I initially installed the evaluation pr ...
Pros: I think it works but I have no proof. Cons: Impersonal customer service and unfair rebate terms.
Here, I think the behavior by McAfee speaks for itself. I bought and downloaded the product online. I was irked by the continual, annoying prompts to buy OTHER McAfee products besides what I set out to buy. I was stupidly lured in to buy VirusScan ...
Virus scans data has been corrupted please reboot by zachofdash ,Oct 23 '03
Pros: Nothing comes to mind Cons: Irritates user into submission
If you would like to see the above message every 3 days then by all means buy this product. I have Norton, SystemSuite and McAfee. I have no viruses yet McAfee gets corrupted for no good reason all the time. Plus when you get to the 11th month of your subscription it harasses you every 5 minutes to be sure to pay them a fee and resubscribe. I'll never buy another McAfee product, the other companies products are far better.
PC Cillin is MUCH better than McAfee by maryrk ,Dec 08 '03
Pros: Non-intrusive popup windows are good. World virus map is interesting. Cons: Let virus in. Techchat on different problem didn't help; handling many chats -slow and forgetful
McAfee, near the end of its 90 day free trial on my new Dell computer, let a virus in (JS HACKER or JS noclose).
A red screen and a window looked strange --so I didn't open it, but initiated a McAfee scan.
McAfee found the virus, BUT hadn't stopped it from coming in --a problem because I don't know who sent it and whom I might have given it to.
McAfee was pretty useless! I'm going back to PC Cillin which is more intrusive, but in 3 years on my old computer, PC- Cillin caught 3-4 viruses and let nothing in.
