Alpine Continues Success
by blinkman86 ,Feb 23 '04
Pros: Provides clean, exceptional bass. Quality name brand. Hits deep lows. Cons: Only the single voice coil.
In the summer of 2003, I was looking to add a rockin' system to my 1999 Mustang GT. I work at Circuit City and a fellow employee recommended the 12" Alpine Type E Subwoofer. A lot of fellow employees had this particular subwoofer so I decided that I wanted that speaker to power my system. I particularly like them because they do not draw the power that many of the other subs(MOMO, Kappas) draw. I currently have an 800W Kenwood, 200 dollar amp powering the two 12's without the use of a cap. The bass quality that I get is truely outstanding. Not only does it hit hard, but also is a very clean sounding sub. I would definately recommend this subwoofer to anyone that wants a high quality sub without paying an enormous price.

Broken Subwoofer
by ebayer137 ,Jul 12 '04
Pros: Nice Bass, Low Price Cons: Blows Easily w/ 250 watt Amps ( Sell Above)
I have bought this sub off eBay. It was purchased pre owned. The guy said that it worked great when he had it. The sub should hadle up to 600 watts, but the RMS is 200. I have a 250 watt amp, so it shouldn't blow the sub because it should handle 600 watts. About three hours after the install the sub blew. I had the bass all the way up, it was the first day w/ this and i wanted to hear what it can do, and it blew. I asked at a shop and they said there is nothing I could of done w/ a 250 watt amp especially in a few hours that would damage a sub. Either the person before me had damaged it, but it still had a few hours of life left on it, or it was defective.
