Pros: 2+-watt power, Weather Band & Weather Alert, good interface Cons: Reception squelch feature too coarse & Tx button a little too high
I recently purchased the AudioVox GMRS7001-2 2-way radios. I have had several 2-way radios in the past couple years. Motorolas, Cobras and a Garmin. Ive found them very useful for hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, etc. The Cobras only had ½ watt ...

Pros: Outstanding features FRS/GMRS, VOX, high/low power, NOAA, excellent battery life Cons: Range not as advertised .5 to .7 mile range only
This unit has outstanding features. It offers multiple channels in FRS and GMRS. It also offers 38 side bands or security codes per channel. The unit also offers VOX and NOAA. It has excellent battery life in both the high and low power settings.
Unfortunately, the range should be advertised as .7 miles
instead of 7 miles. I tried this unit in both the FRS and the GMRS channels in suburban, rural and hunting situations and never got more than .5 to .7 miles of range.
Excellent unit for short range!!!!!!!!!!!!!
