Good Camera for the Price

by nimh_rat , Mar 11 '04
Pros: Low price. Adequate features. Sufficiently accurate color capture.
Cons: Long write time to flash memory. Somewhat grainy pictures.
You're looking at the wrong camera if you want something to capture photographs for a fine arts exhibit or for holiday pictures and cards to send to your discriminating in-laws. This camera is not in the same league as a Canon G5, Olympus 5050 or the ...

worth the price
by jeffnchris ,Nov 30 '03
Pros: Price, Lens Quality (by Sony), 1.5" LCD screen, various light settings
Cons: Battery Life, Selective Features
The trade: you lose some premium features, but you don't end up with a premium price. Ok, I'm tired of seeing poor ratings on the DC3500. I bought two (since their price isn't exactly astronomical, folks...) and gave one to a friend, who, may I add, is very hard on *his/her* electronics. I mean, *his/her* cell phone gets "placed" all over the office, and *his/her* keyboard becomes airborn at least twice a day. Cutting to the chase, neither my friend, nor myself have had any troubles with our DC3500s. Actually, the picture quality (thanks to Sony's CCD Aspherical Lens) is amazing, and honestly, I still have yet to find a better deal when looking for an inexpensive, but worthwhile beginner's digicam. I mean, for about $75, tell me where are you gonna find another 2.1 MP digital camera?

Decent Digi Cam!
by greengemini ,Aug 01 '04
Pros: Picture quality!
Cons: Shutter Lag. Use of AAA batteries.
I believe that this camera takes really good pictures probably due to the sony lense that it has. I have had this camera for a few years and it has really been good to me. The only draw backs are that it uses 4 AAA batteries. This camera can really go through some batteries. Also, it has a really slow start up when you turn it on, it seems like it takes this camera a good 15 to 20 seconds before you can even take a picture. Also, the shutter lag on this camera is bad. It takes so long for this camera to save a picture after it is taken before you can take the next picture. The only saving grace for this camera is the quality of the pictures and I believe that due to the Sony Lense components.

Not worth the money you pay for this camera
by samrishi ,Oct 05 '03
Pros: It does look like a digital camera but only if it worked like one too
Cons: The camera doesnt even stay on for more than 3 minutes or so.
It is a total waste of money. It is not even worth a buy for a beginner. The screen image started jumping after I took the first image.

Argus - Poor Customer Service
by bpascua98 ,Jan 26 '04
Pros: None.
Cons: They are not a consumer friendly company...
We encountered a problem with my daughter's Argus digital camera we gave here for Christmas in 2002. In Feb. 2003, we sent it to Argus...they lost the camera in a relocation, and stated they would send us a new one. It's now Jan 2004, and they are ignoring our phone messages, and even an the Better Business Bureau. We have all the documentation of when we sent the camera when they received it, and all correspondence since.

This is a good product...
by pjrobertz_dt3000 ,Mar 30 '03
This is a good product for the price. Argus is rarely considered by most people shopping for digital cameras, but past experience with old 35mm Argus cameras led me to this one. It's easy to get started with the camera right out of the box. Unfortunately they had to sacrifice a couple of essentials to make this price point. This product is hard to use without a compact flash memory card and an AC adapter, unless you enjoy replacing 4 AAA batteries often. (Note that some batteries won't power this camera up long enough for you to look at the lcd and shoot an image).
