Pros: Excellent staff, beautiful setting Cons: Horrible director
I worked as a staff member at Long Lake and was amazed at how terrible the administration was. I attended camps as a child and teenager and then went on to be a staff member. When I arrived at Long Lake, I had very positive memories of camp and camp...
Pros: The freedom to explore all kinds of arts with all kinds of people. Cons: bug bites, not enough time to do everything
I am stunned by the negative review of this camp. I just can't imagine they are talking about the same place I have spent the last 3 summers! Long Lake Camp is the most amazing place I have ever worked with children. It is even amazing when compared ...
Pros: the surrounding, artistic and creative outlets, staff Cons: black flies
I was truly shocked by the comment posted by a former staff member at Long lake. The description made the camp unrecognizable to me. I do realize that 10 years was some time ago and lots can change, but knowing the directors as I do, I have a hard time be ...
Pros: Amazing people, perfect environment, great instruction, and a summer you will never forget Cons: none
I would say that Long Lake Camp is the single best experience in my entire life. I have been going there for 4 years, and will continue to attend until I no longer am able to due to age constrictions. Since my first summer at age 11, I feel as if I have ...
Pros: You create memories and an understanding or the arts that you couldnt ever getanywhere else! Cons: How could you say anything bad about this place!
I love this place!I have been a returning camper for 4 years now and plan on being one untill they wont let me! I have been to many of camps and some that say to offer a summer geared toward Performing Arts and non have come close to the amazing summers ...
Pros: The campers are the most amazing kids I've ever met...staff is spectacular Cons: None
Long lake Camp was by far the most amazing three summers of my life. The kids there are amazing, and despite the patch over my eye from a recent surgery, they accepted me immediately. I made friends instantly. The productions here are nothing short...
Pros: Campers choose their own activities, great environment, amazing opportunity Cons: expensive
I attended Long Lake Camp for the Arts in the summer of 1995. I have a much more recent memory of the camp, however, from going to pick up my sister this summer and enjoying the many many shows they put on for the families at the end of the session....
Expect more for my money... by aparent ,Oct 27 '06
Pros: Child had a good time overall Cons: Promises much more than delivers. Owner/Director has no respect for parents.
While my child attended for several years, and for the most part enjoyed the experience, last year was the last.
The camp promises many fabulous field trips which do not occur.
They offer many popular classes/lessons which fill up quickly so many (most?) of the campers interested can not participate.
If your child is already talented/experienced in an area, they get wonderful attention treatment. If not....
Biggest complaint, however, is with the camp owner/director. When I attempted to speak with him regarding a concern, I basically was told he was not interested and feel free to take my child elsewhere. Speaking with other parents at the local hotel that night, I got a lot of knowing looks/comments as I was in no way the first to have this type of experience.
To be honest, shows were not that much better than a good local high-school production (but still impressive given the short turn-around time on their plays)
I'm not saying don't send your child here. They will most likely enjoy themselves. However, given the amount of $$$ they ask for, proceed with caution....
I can't live without Long Lake! by zippyiscool ,Sep 28 '05
Pros: All the staff, facilities, Marc and Susan, everything there!! Cons: NONE!!!
Long Lake Camp for the Arts is the BEST camp i have been to, ever! This season was my first year, and everything was so fantastic! The staff are great, and very professional. Everything is state-of-the-art, and more is always arriving. I am counting down the hours until I return! Thank you Marc and Susan!
My Favourite Place in the World by hotchik558 ,Aug 29 '06
Pros: staff, campers - best friends you can have,place-spectacular, freedom, follow passions etc. Cons: leaving the place is awful - still crying about it
I have been a camper at LLC for three years now and I only left yesterday after spending 6 weeks there. I am still crying because I miss my friends, the counsellors and the whole place so much. I came back home and it felt alien to me as LLC is my true home. I can't believe I can only go there one more year and I hope to be a counsellor there when I am older. I have been to three other camps but none have touched me as much as Long Lake. I don't see how anyone in their sane minds can give it a negative review as there is no other place that I'd prefer to be. I hope everyone who has a passion for art, music, acting, dance or circus has chance to come as you won't regret it - I guarentee it.
Long Lake Camp was fantastic. by qwert_373 ,Sep 16 '03
Pros: Incredibly friendly staff and a place where the children are really looked after well. Cons: The weather was a bit miserable. But thats about it.
I was a counselor at long lake for three years from 2000 to 2003. I am writing this review because a friend told me about the other staff comments and how wrong they were. I do not recognize camp from their description. I had a great summer helping children to really have a great time. I felt very well supported and found the camp really cared for both the staff and the children. I would gladly send my children there when I have any. It was a lot of hard work but I knew that before I arrived as one of the directors of the camp told me it would be very rewarding and hard work. Of course not everyone will like everything but I did and I would want to work there again.
Pros: staff is so caring, the performances so professional, campers are one of a kind Cons: its not the whole year long!
Amazing!...from the campers to the experience to the directors and all the staff- long lake is the absolute highlight of my whole year! i have a calender that i X off until camp because i miss everything and everybody so much. i wish that i had found out about it sooner so that i could spend my whole life doing it! the campers are one of a kind that i keep in touch with throughout the year, and the staff are so caring and professional.
A camper of 6 years and going back a 7th, I LOVE THIS PLACE!! by juder ,Sep 03 '08
Pros: the kids can get involved in every thing! Cons: is you have to say goodbye to it at the end of the summer!
Long lake camp is amazing the staff is wonderful and the owners and directors truly care about the kids. The kids you meat there will be your best friends for life. The shows are level with broadway and offer strait and musicals. The staff is so professional and well learned in their crafts and supportive. You make your own schedule each day as you go along and are never doing something you don't want to do! fantastic staff, complete in all departments including shows, musicals, plays, hair, make up, costumes, tech crew, set design, props, dance, instruments, bands, circus, all aspects of the fine arts, even the delicious meals, and more!
People might say its expensive, but only the parents that don't get the experience the fun them self! I would pay anything to send my kids to this camp!
