Pros: Good price, relatively straight forward, built in water filter Cons: Clock gains time, milk tank hard to clean, ground basket falls open when removing pot
INTRODUCTION: I recently decided I wanted a combo unit coffee maker after I developed an unhealthy addiction to espresso. At any rate, most combination units are expensive, running in the $150-$200 range, so I decided the DeLonghi Caffe Figaro was ...
Pros: Program to make coffee at specific time, make espresso while drip is brewing.
Cons: Warmer shuts off too soon, poor construction, poor controls.
This seemed like a nice unit when we ordered, however now that we have it there are a number of disappointing issues. First, the quality of the filter door is the biggest flaw. It feels like it will break off its crummy plastic hinges at any moment. ...
Pros: It worked well. Cons: It only worked well for two weeks.
This combination coffee and espresso maker worked well for the first two weeks we had it. Then the problems began. First, a plastic piece (part of the frothing system) broke. We could no longer froth the milk, which was the one feature that caused us to...
I received this coffeemaker as a gift 3 years ago and it has given me nothing but trouble since. As I type this, it is peeing water all over my countertops! I know this item cost approx. $250 CDN and if it wasn't for that I would have used it for a boat anchor long ago.
The first 6 months I had the machine, it was in the shop at least 4 times. There were problems with the microchip, the sensor, it leaks like a sieve, and like the previous writer, I've never been able to get a hot latte.
I have sent long emails to DeLonghi, both their customer service and sales departments, and have NEVER received the courtesy of a reply.
A friend ordered a new coffee maker through eBay and was anticipating its arrival...when I learned it was a DeLonghi, I cautioned him! Sure enough, he had problems with it. I will steer clear of all DeLonghi products from now on. I advise everyone else to as well. There are much better products out there, with much better support from the company!
Pros: I cannot think of one. Cons: Poorly functioning machine.
I bought this product less than two years ago. I was very excited about making my own steamed milk to top off my morning coffee with. I was soon very disappointed!! The frother/steamer only produces minimal froth and the milk goes cold so fast that it was not worth the cleaning process this machine requires. I also had a problem with water leaking from the top of the unit while brewing coffee. The Carafe design was poor and it was almost impossible to pour a cup of coffee without spilling it all over the counter. (Unless I removed the lid.)Overall, it was not worth the price I paid. In fact, I don't think it's worth buying at ANY price. Personally, I think a coffeemaker that was priced at well over $100.00 should function properly and last more than a year and a half. Save your money folks....this machine is garbage. And, that is preciously where mine can be found - in the garbage.
Pros: Like the brew strengths for regular coffee and espresso. Cons: Basket swivel flimsy and seems like its going to break
Overall nice design.
I've used the machine for about 3 weeks now and so far very happy with the product. . When I first made espresso, I had the dial set to beyond strong and had to play with the adjustment to get the strength I liked. Now its a breeze and seem to get excellent results. I also like the regular coffee brew feature from strong to light. The only 2 criticisms I have are: 1.. the coffee maker basket swivel mechanism is a little flimsy.. and 2. I don't know yet what the accessible compartment on the right side over the espresso maker is meant to be used for.
Pros: Good Coffee. Super froth. Easy to use. Cons: Temperature of espresso and cappuccino were luke-warm.
Coffee maker worked fine and really enjoyed the coffee. On the Latte Cappuccino side I could never get a hot mug. Froth was great and very easy to use however I had to microwave my mug when all done to get it up to coffee house temperature. Eventually took it back. I would rather try and find a machine that produces a HOT latte.
What a piece of sh*t!! Delonghi Figaro Espresso Maker is a rip off. by lulu137 ,Sep 09 '04
Pros: None so far Cons: Slow brew
Lukewarm espresso/coffee
No steam milk
I have recently purchased the Figaro Espresso/Coffe Maker and was very excited about making my own espresso drinks. The espresso maker worked beautifully the first time and produced a nice crema on top of the espresso; however, any subsequent attempts have produced lackluster results. It takes over 20 minutes to brew 2 shots of espresso!! It comes out 1 drop at a time and is lukewarm. It seems to get worse each time I use it and I've only used it 10 times. The nearest service center is over 30 miles away and frankly, I am frustrated that I have to even consider taking it in for service after only making 10 lousy drinks. I've always thought of Delonghi as a high-quality brand name and when I was in the market for an affordable espresso machine, I chose Delonghi over Krups. I'm very disappointed with my decision and will do serious investigation before I every buy another Delonghi product.

Pros: style Cons: durability, doesn't work well at all
General
I picked up this product through a department store while it was on sale. Unfortunately, the product lasted about 6 months before a number of problems appeared and it now sits in the basement awaiting the next yard sale.
Style
Admittedly, this is a stylish piece of equipment. While it takes up a bit of space, the lines are pretty nice.
Function
Within 6 months, the machine was exhibiting some significant problems. The first involved leaking around the basket. That was soon followed by the frothing system beginning to break down. Finally, the clock and warning lights went on the fritz.
Cost
Definitely high cost for a coffee maker, and the performance doesn't match the price tag.
This machine is hazardous to your health! by jl101 ,Feb 09 '06
Pros: None. Cons: Everything!
A huge disappointment.
I have the same review as everyone else. The clock never works, needs unplugging every month or so. The filter basket leaks water everywhere! It originally made a decent cup of joe, but that was quickly a distant memory. Impossible to repair, nightmare customer service. Do not buy this waste of plastic! If the water leaking doesn't cause an electrical fire in your home, you'll be fortunate.
The only guarantee this machine (or Delonghi) will give you is high blood pressure and related stress.
Pros: Excellent coffee Cons: Terrible customer service! Product broke after 1.5 months of use!
My husband bought me the DeLonghi Coffee and Espresso machine. It made excellent coffee for the month and a half we owned it. Then, in the middle of making a pot, it stopped working and De Longhi WON'T stand by repairing this product (or replacing it) because we don't have an "authorized repair center" near us. (Despite this product having a ONE YEAR warranty!) I tried to get resolution from their customer service for the past 2 months with no results. They won't honor their two-month replacement policy with the company I bought it through, either, because they said that I ordered it 2.5 months before I called to report it was broken, even though they didn't ship it for a month. (Hence, I only had the product for a month and a half.) Therefore, even though it made great coffee, and espresso, I would have to say NEVER buy this product. They DON'T stand behind it!
Do not follow these directions, find your own method for using this!! by mickeymel ,Aug 23 '05
Pros: cappuccino is great if you put the proper water when making espresso Cons: When first using the machine, with the directions it was frustrating.
I bought this for my wife, it was a had to have for her. the kids and I got it for her for mother's day. When first learning how to use it, it wouldn't work when using the directions. Then my wife just added a little bit more water when making the cappuccino and there is enough steam to get the milk hot and froth the milk for a great cappuccino.
Don't buy this product!!! by merrillron ,Dec 08 '05
Pros: NONE that I can tell. Cons: Parts broken and unable to get in the USA.
I bought this machine in October 2005 and in December 2005 I am still waiting for it to come out of the repair shop. I never even got to use it once - it was broken when I received it (on-line store). I called DeLonghi and they do not even know when the needed part will be in the USA. This is so unacceptable - don't be fooled like I was and think that this is a good brand or machine.
Pros: Excellent coffee when the machine worked Cons: The machine rarely worked properly, and finally broke down
We trusted in the Delonghi named and got burned just like so many others reporting problems with this pile of junk. We had many of the same problems - clock never kept proper time, water leaked on to the counter, had to be unplugged and plugged back in once in a while. All of it. Then the coffee maker stopped working altogether. Lasted less than two years. I'm not even going to bother any attempt at Delonghi's customer service, I hear your pain my coffee appreciating brothers and sisters. I'm taking this machine out back to shoot it and put it out of its misery. I heard the Krups Bistro machine is pretty good. About the same price.
P.S. Our $90 Delonghi toaster never worked right either. One side never shuts off leaving my Pop Tart a flamed out mess, and the other side has to be turned all the way up to KEEP IT FROM TURNING OFF! Delonghi sucks!!!
Pros: Forget Starbucks - I saved $80 the first month. Cons: I can't sleep at night due to caffeine overload.
I hesitated to buy this item after reading some of the other reviews about it on epinion but after buying it on ebay at an unbelievably low price of $35 which included shipping, I must say that it's a really well designed appliance. I would have the same opinion even if I had paid the $150+ it would normally retail for.
