Pros: Inexpensive, quality service Cons: hard to get if your record isn't great
Dollar for dollar, USAA auto insurer is the best insurer I have dealt with.
Coverage
You can get all the basic coverage. I have Liability, Uninsured Motorist, Collision ($250 deductible), and Comprehensive ($0 deductible). That’s...

Pros: Low rates, fast settlements, website. Cons: Must be military, dependants, former spouses or adult children of USAA members to qualify.
Because of my husband's previous driving record, we'll call him "Lead Foot" in this review, we had always had a hard time getting decent Auto insurance. We'd had several other companies before, including ...

Pros: USAA is rock solid. I've used the service since 1978. Cons: You have to wait to get motorcycle insurance.
USAA is a full-service financial company for military members and families. It was for military officers ONLY in the beginning and included family members of officers. Now, it is all military plus family members.
My dad was an officer in...

Pros: Large Company with Many Assets and Services Cons: Their success may sometimes let you down
I have personally been a member/owner of USAA since 1994. And to be honest, I have been extremely please with the service and its reliability over the years.
My Expectations
To fully understand why I rate USAA like I do you must...

Pros: Usually inexpensive. Most agents are friendly if you don't have a claim. Cons: What on earth has happened to their customer service?
First of all, let me say that I've been a USAA policyholder since 1991 and my parents have been policyholders for years. My husband has been a policyholder since 1984. Up until recently, I had a lot of respect for USAA auto insurance. Why? Because I ...

Pros: great insurance coverage, great customer service Cons: none
I am a military wife and all I can say is it is a tough job. We are promised benefits and they are usually free for a while or they are taken away. I can say that with USAA they promise us low insurance rates and they keep there promise.
USAA...

Pros: Pay claims fast and helpful personnel Cons: Must be military or dependant of military.
One of the biggest headaches you can ever have is dealing with an insurance company. Having said this, dealing with USAA is like going through labor with a nice epidural. It's pretty painless and the end result is satisfying. My experience with this...

Pros: good auto rates Cons: lost that personal touch, too many middle managers,
Having been a member of USAA for over 35 years, I have seen changes in the company that are not for the best. They have gotten into so many areas, that I question their ability to handle the most important one, like our insurance. They were twice as high...

Pros: Great coverage, some of the best rates in the world Cons: When you need a check, be prepared to fight for every dollar you get
I've been a USAA member for my auto and homeowner's insurance for 21 years. The company has changed quite a bit, with some of the changes forced on them, and some of the changes they brought on themselves. BUYING INSURANCE: Very good to ...

Pros: Easy to change locations, even insure overseas. Cons: Difficult getting claim paid, then they raise your rate.
I used USAA for auto insurance for five years, or I should say they used me. They were the first insurance company I had my own policy with. While I lived at home, I was always on my parents' State Farm policy. When I acquired a car...

Pros: Member satisfaction= priority. Good rates. Cons: Restricted membership.
I worked for USAA for 5 years as a claims representative/adjuster and quit last year to stay home with my children. We still carry USAA insurance and probably always will. They are an exceptional company.
As for the rates, I've always felt...

Pros: Quick response, friendly people, fair treatment
Cons: lack of local agent -- weak negative but I have to type something
We had been with USAA for four years for all our insurance needs -- home, life, auto, umbrella -- and we appreciated the service and the competitive rates we received. But the ultimate test of an auto insurer is how (and whether) they handle ...

Pros: One stop shopping is the only pro... Cons: Just try to submit a claim and see how their company really is.
USAA as a great insurance company? Not so much. Only if you NEVER have to submit a claim, as other respondents have mentioned. I thought they were alot more then it turns out they actually are... up until the point that I actually NEEDED what we had been ...

Pros: Cheaper rates, better coverage Cons: Only available for the military
Being a military family doesn't come with many advantages. The unset schedule, the moving, and the pay are just some of the many disadvantages to this lifestyle. But I have to admit, this auto insurance is a great plus to those in the military. It is...

Pros: They pay up. Cons: It is car insurance! CAR INSURANCE IS AWFUL!! It is betting you will not crash, and your reward, should you not crash, is paying the company.
After at least 12 speeding tickets, one failure to stop at a stop sign, one running a red light, One passing on the right, failure to use turn signal, one illegal left turn, One expired inspection sticker, and one citation for failure to wear safety...
