Pros: Low on fees, Loaded with Benefits Cons: May be difficult to obtain
If you want a credit card with more benefits and less fees than any other on the market, you'll need to take a Quantum leap. "Only for the select few. Only from MBNA." So goes the slogan for the new top of the line Quantum Card....

Pros: Good customer service, powerful billpay feature lets you charge non-credit card purchases to your card Cons: Much better benefits available from other credit cards
Quantum was an interesting, top of the line card when it was introduced. netKats review in Epinions from November 2000 was an excellent summary of the features, but it is unfortunately horribly out of date now. The pattern in the credit card ...

Pros: Concierge service, premium travel benefits, free rewards, over-the-limit protection, no annual fee Cons: Missing some perks that should adorn any super-premium card
My Platinum Plus account was upgraded to Quantum when the product was first introduced. The card is in reality MBNA's own version of a World MasterCard or Visa Signature product. It comes with an impressive array of benefits and services, and does not...

Pros: No fee, concierge service, low rate if you ask, travel benefits, free card registry. Cons: Haven't found one yet.
I have been with MBNA since 1999. I recently upgraded to a Quantum account and it is my absolute best card. I requested that my rate be kept at the fixed 9.99% and they were more than happy to meet my request. The Quantum card has no annual fee and i ...

Pros: no fees, high credit limits Cons: missing benefits an exclusive card should have
I signed up for this card about two months ago. I was hoping for an exclusive-level card, which is what their flyer promised. Well, I'm sorry to report this card isn't it.
Don't get me wrong, it's an OK credit card, no annual,...

Pros: Nothing worth noting Cons: Misleading and misinforming customer service representatives
I recently moved from New York to Maryland and requested a change of address with my MBNA World Points Visa card (which I had for 10 years, before they were acquired by Bank of America), to be effective a few days before I actually moved into my new ...

Pros: Good benefits. Free bill pay. Outstanding temporary card program. Excellent usability via internet. Cons: Payment-due window shortening. Watch out for fees. Silly cash advance checks offered incessantly.
I have had an MBNA card since about 1999. They offered Quantum in 2000 and I took it. Quantum Rewards are reasonable and redeemable in cash if you like. My comments really apply more to MBNA in general than to the Quantum program. They do have ...

Pros: good customer service, good online "netaccess" website and "world points" rewards Cons: underhand business practices, secret raising of interest rate
Today I discovered that they hiked my APR gradually since my opening the account in 2003 all the way from 8.9% APR to 25.24% for NO REASON. I paid on time without exception and never caused any trouble. I was as good as a customer gets and liked their ...

Pros: Great Benefits, No Fee, Exclusivity Cons: The web sites for the card could be more integrated for ease of use
As a constant user and holder of too many cards, I must say the MBNA Quantum card is one of the best I have and I find myself tending to use it more than the rest. The features of the card (e.g., concierge, travel insurance, luggage insurance, no fees...

Quantum by MBNA (A truly fair weather creditor)
by mdglb ,Feb 16 '05
Pros: No annual fee. Cons: Rotten customer service.
I've had my Quantum account since early 2001. I've never had a missed payment, never a late payment on this or any of my accounts. Watch Out! If you dare carry a balance on another card, you could expect to have your account closed abruptly and without notice. Having a spotless credit report isn't enough for these people. MBNA raised my credit limit one day, then closed my account 7 days later. Go figure! It seems MBNA wants to extend credit lines, but doesn't want you to use them.

MBNA Worst Card for Your Credit, Not Best
by prttythts1 ,Oct 10 '05
Pros: None Cons: Overanxious to hurt your credit so they can charge higher fees.
I received four, three 30 day lates on my MBNA credit card, three of them which they caused to happen.
One was due to a speedpay phone payment that they said had gotten "stuck" (some date/time stamp problem-go figure). By the time I paid again it was 30 days late because of some emergency I had.
The second was when I closed the account, and asked the phone representative what my credit card balance amount was, paid it, then a "fee" popped up unknowingly on my credit report.
The last one was when I went online to order statements to understand how that last 30 day late had come about, then the website said "statements ordered" and that my account would be billed. I no longer had an account. I could not even see what that looked like. I got no bill in the mail. I got no statements either.
I now have a 60 day late, for 20$ !. I am a real estate investor with a portfolio of properties, and MBNA has a history of overanxiousness to hurt my credit rating, with their negligence or malice.

A Cautionary Statement
by twciv ,Mar 07 '04
Pros: Good accessibility, high credit lines Cons: Frequently rude, inflexible and ready to charge ANY extra fees they can devise.
MBNA undoubtedly ranks number 1 for aggressive selling and possibly for available services, but for this family they ALSO rank #1 for taking every opportunity to rip you off, both on rates and questionable to outrageously incorrect charges.
We've had punitive rates imposed for arguably erroneous reasons, and have had (just this month) a $39 late fee put on for an electronic payment 3 days before due date.
Watch out for these people - they are sharks in an already hostile credit pool.
