The best affordable MiniDisc recorder.

by brianchen_2001 , May 21 '01
Pros: It's super stylish, sounds great, and will turn many heads.
Cons: Does not feature the amazing MDLP. It also makes an annoying processing noise.
UPDATE! 6/30/02: The MZ-R91 has become very picky on when it wants to function. Many times it'll just go dead even though the batteries are brand new. This just leads me to the conclusion that after enough beating, the MZ-R91 won't perform as when...

My favourite MD walkman so far

by matsmith , Dec 28 '00
Pros: Lightweight, elegant yet stylish metallic case; excellent "to-be-expected" Sony quality of build and audio output.
Cons: None
Perhaps I shouldn't feel I must apologise for my UK English spellings. Oh well, I gave in.

I wrote a Minidisc review a long time ago. It compared two Minidisc recorder walkmen; a Sony and a Sharp. You can see the review at...

Hmmm. Think *carefully* --

by tachyonscribe , Oct 02 '00
Pros: Lightweight, longplaying...a peach of a size!
Cons: Feels flimsy, and corners were obviously cut in its manufacture.
-- Before buying this machine.

I traded up from a Sony R-50 MD, and there are major pros and cons.

Yes, the machine is smaller. (Thank god for a machine I can place in my shirt pocket!) Yes, it looks sexy. Yes, it has WAY longer...

MZ-R91 is the BEST!

by ColinM , Jun 03 '00
Pros: Battery Life, Size, Looks, Everything
Cons: Motor Noise, Search Time
I bought my Sony MZ-R91 in blue. It looks cool, sounds excellent and has brilliant ease of use. I am listening to it now as I write this review and I can't emphasize enough how good this unit is! I'm sure you probably know the dimensions of the unit, but...

Sony Smokes Competition...Again

by punjabi2001 , Jul 20 '00
Pros: Tiny, Powerful, Reliable, and Elegant, the best on the market
Cons: Clear casing of remote takes getting used to, earbud headphones stink
Since the introduction of the original Walkman in the 1970's, Sony has continued to push the technological envelope in every conceivable electronic format, from portable audio to video cameras, televisions, stereo equipment, and as of late has churned...

Small is beautiful

by ccn158 , Sep 23 '00
Pros: Great looks, features and sound quality.
Cons: None
At the moment, this is the worlds smallest, recording Discman. And what a beauty it is. I've always like Discmans for their superior sound quality to cassettes, and not really got on with CD players as they annoyingly jog, and can be a bit bulky.

:D MZR-91 Is Sleek & Stylish!!!

by UCturboBoii , Sep 19 '00
Pros: Stylish & Sleek
Cons: No optical cable; slower access speed
Unlike the MZR-55, the 91 is sleek and stylish. It is smaller and more efficient than the MZR-55. The battery lasts 25 hours or longer with a single AA battery and NiMh rechargeable battery.
I bought the 91 because it looked unique and was...

Function and Style

by kcwl , Jun 17 '01
Pros: Very small and stylish. Nice colors. Functional. Ease of use.
Cons: Problems with the LCD on main unit.
As shown in the pictures, the design of the machine itself is very stylish. Apart from the great looks, I found this unit very easy to use. The buttons are very easy to push and just the right size. One of the best features built in is the jog dial, it...

A Modern, "Old-School" MD Recorder...

by TheNihcman , May 27 '01
Pros: Size, Battery Life, Sleek Design, Record Functions
Cons: Poor battery life, A Tad Noisier than other portables
The MZ-R91, after being replaced by the newer and more functional MZ-R900, is not considered “old-school.” But I noticed that it still has many features that keep it one of the top MD recorders on the market.

Being almost two years old now,...

Everything you need to know

by SHADOWS123 , Mar 28 '00
Pros: COOL DESIGN, EXTREMELY TINY, BRILLIANT SOUND QUALITY
Cons: NO PROGRAMMABLE FEATURE, SLIGHT AMOUNT OF NOISE
I am new to the MINIDISC scene, so I decided to do a little rummaging round on the net. And well, this is where I learnt everything I know.

After reading loads of reviews, I decided that SONY was the way to go. I went out and bought the...

Quality Minidisk Player

by quiksilver911 , Mar 28 '00
Pros: Small, Convenient, some what durable, no need to carry cds!
Cons: costly!
I went overseas and saw a lot of people were carrying around these things instead of cd players. It seemed pretty efficient, so I did my research. I finally found the perfect model. The Sony MZ-R91 minidisk player is a bit pricey but if you can afford...

Unbelievable product, but open your wallet

by witz , Oct 08 '00
Pros: Size, Ease of Use, Weight, Features, Great Sound and Battery Life.
Cons: Its from Japan and the earphones stink.
I am not one to make a purchase like this lightly. My friend here in New York had showed me the real advantages of MiniDisc, but I remained dubious. Thus began six weeks of ludicrously detailed research - the result being the purchase of this supercool,...

Superb Sound-- Reasonable price

by spelcom , Oct 27 '00
Pros: Light, portable, excellent battery life, versatile
Cons: The earphones that come with it are pretty bad.
This is an amazing MD recorder and player. If you are looking for a new or your first MD (mini disc) player, this should be it. The sound quality cannot be beat. The price is a bit high, but it’s worth it for those of you who value the sound quality of...

My First Mini Disc (not for long!)

by Taoski , May 03 '00
Pros: Small, light, excellent sound quality!
Cons: Fiddly remote,
Unlike normal i really did my homework and research for a few weeks before i splashed out on my new Sony MZR-91. Many times in the past i have purchased things before really knowing whether i was buying the better option and regretted it later. Epinons...

THESE MDs ARE HOT!!

by edyu , May 06 '00
Pros: Small, stylish, great recording
Cons: Absolutely Nothing
So far I bought three minidisc recordable players but this minidisc makes my other minidiscs look like sh*t. If you are planning to buy a minidisc I highly recommend the Sony MZ-R91. I bought this minidisc because it is the smallest one and it has good...
