Pros: Clean, crisp, and powerful sound. A plethora of usable features. Cons: Expensive, but well worth the money.
Remote could be better.
Following the introduction of the DSP-A1, which was incredibly successful, it was only natural that Yamaha would introduce other receivers that have some, but not all, of the DSP-A1's features and performance. Not everyone can afford the DSP-A1, but all...
Pros: Great sound, Packs a punch, drives difficult loads, plenty of inputs, palatable DSP Cons: No Component Video, Horrible remote.
I've got one of these with a pair of Magnepan MMGs, a Magnepan MCC1 in the center, a Velodyne FXR-1800, and a pair of random Infinity bookshelves as my temporary rears.
It's really nice to be able to just turn the volume knob and hear the...
Pros: Great DSP modes, good buy for the money Cons: Won't allow you to really crank the volume for music
The Yamaha RXV-2095 is a great performer when it comes to price vs. quality. 100 clean watts of power to all five channels plus 25 watts a channel to both effect channels. The effect channels are great for creating a sense of you're there. It has more...
Pros: Great features, great cinema sound Cons: Poor music reproduction, bad remote
I recently had an RX-V2095 on loan from my local dealer for a week, as I awaited the arrival of my DSP-AX1. In this short time I have developed mixed feelings about the unit. Build quality is great and as a home theatre source, it is pretty impressive....
Pros: Easy on screen programming, 7 channels, Excellent, uncluttered faceplate Cons: Remote is a little on the clumsy side
I actually stumbled on this because of an act of nature.
I had a year old Kenwood receiver and I though it was the bomb. In April of 99, lightning struck my house. I had everything unplugged (I'm a little nervous when it comes to my home...
For the first time, my home system now actually sounds as good as those "perfect" systems set up in the high-end stores. I was a little nervous about switching from separate components to a receiver, but in just 1/2 hour, I was converted. ...
Pros: great sound quality and damping factor Cons: quirky remote
I bought this receiver to replace my Harmon Kardon HK6250 integrated amp. I've owned this receiver for five years now. I love the sound quality and the fact that I can't go past half blast in my room or it will run me out. Sound from DVDs are great but require a little more volume to get the best sound out of it. The tuner is good too and the soundfields are great. The remote is quirky but does what it needs to do. Very happy I purchased this over Harmon Kardon and lesser Yamaha receivers. I use all cerwin-vega speakers with the Yamaha. With my Yamaha DVD player and Hitachi TV this was my ultimate home theater system.
