For the serious buyer....Wow!

by Chris72 , Dec 25 '00
Pros: Great sound; ease of operation
Cons: Size
This is one great receiver! I had been in the market for a DVD player and realized that my current receiver (which is only 3 years old) is not compatible with today's digital capabilities. So, of course, I decided to upgrade. This receiver is...

Harmon/Kardon - The Audiophile Authority

by boonkauc , Feb 17 '01
Pros: Crisp sound, massive power, tons of inputs, looks great.
Cons: All of your friends will be envious.
A couple years back, I began a job at Circuit City working in the home audio department. I had been a long time lover of great sound, and this opportunity was a great chance to learn about what I loved so much. After several months of selling...

I shop online for the first time.

by jay_score , Mar 25 '02
Pros: Great Sound, Great Buy
Cons: Underpowered in some situations.
This review is mated to a review I wrote on the RCA widescreen HDTV. The Harmon Kardon and RCA comprise my Home theater system.

My Experience:

My first stereo system was built using a Bell Reel to Reel tape recorder and speakers I...

Can you say, "WOW!"?

by anon7070 , Apr 19 '00
Pros: Great power, sound, and flexibility
Cons: Physical size
What a behemoth!!!

I bought this receiver because I wanted the biggest and best. With 75 amps of High Current Capability, this unit will produce accurate sound from the most bass intensive soundtracks. But it not its raw power and excellent...

Harmon AVR 7000, Great easy to use, with very poor reliability

by chris1epinions , Jun 08 '07
Pros: Great sound, easy to use
Cons: Poor reliability, long repair times, overpriced
I bought the AVR 7000 unit new about 6-7 years ago. When I received it, the center channel had a buzz in it which Harman Kardon said they repaired and did not fix it. I then received a new unit when I showed them the problem (2 months later). I then ...

The beauty and the BEAST!

by trex250 , Nov 26 '00
Pros: Great sound looks good
Cons: HMMM?
This receiver is a beauty, so unleash the beast! The sheer power of this receiver is amazing. The overall imaging and channel separation is great. I also found this receiver to be great in two channel stereo. There are plenty of inputs for all your...

Sound Perfect, Design Flawed

by NewsView Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jul 05 '01
Pros: Flawless sound, great features
Cons: Horror stories at audioreview.com regarding quality control issues with the H\K 500s and 700s.
For 50-some years, H\K has been producing quality products. Until last year. The AVR 500, and to some extent 7000, suffers a number of problems. According to reviews at audioreview.com, some of these problems did not surface for a year or so, leaving...

The preamp in/outs sold this for me
by kcxngh ,Nov 14 '04
Pros: "Crystal" chip technology for decoding & 6 pre amp i/o's
Cons: Weak FM tuner (but who listens to FM with Satellite availability these days !)
I am a sound engineer (road & studio) by vocation. When I'm at home I expect nothing but the best in my listening pleasure because after all that is what is expected of me to deliver on the job. To achieve this I must have superb EQing capabilities.

The AVR 7000 sold itself by having 6 pre amp in's & outs. This allows me to place a 31 band EQ on each of my 6 speakers. I use 3 stereo eq's which I run in mono giving me the 6 eq's I maintain this with.

I ( and my friends ) have heard things on recordings that I have nevwer heard before. As far as I have seen, this is the only receiver on the market that will allow for this configuration.

Thanks HK now I hate having to hit the road, but coming home sure is fun.
