by gjacks Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, May 25 '00
Pros: Quality, ease of use, price
Cons: None
The Canon EOS Rebel G is one of the easiest SLR cameras to use on the market today.

A few years ago, my mother-in-law told me she wanted to buy a good quality camera that would last her a lifetime. As much as I wanted to tell her about some...

Pros: Easy to use features and lots of 'em.
Cons: None really
Even though there is an updated version of the Rebel series camera with even more features on the loose. It's June 2002 and the Rebel G kit is still available new. I found this little gem on sale and I couldn't pass it up.

Just like point & shoot only BETTER !!!

by meetmissy , Feb 14 '00
Pros: works similar to point & shoot but also has manual settings, can add additional zooms for distance shots. camera is light considering the size
Cons: additional zooms make camera sort of heavy
For about as long as I can remember I have owned a regular classic style point and shoot camera.
It was all good if you had the right batteries and were in the right situation- mostly being in a well lit area. I seemed to always have issues with...

Pros: Lots of super features, clarity of final photos

My review is about the Canon EOS Rebel camera. I had purchased this model several years ago, and they have since made improvements such as the built in flash.

This camera can make any amateur feel like a Ansel Adams or Diane Arbus. It...

Good body, poor lens.

by ksleskov , Nov 25 '00
Pros: cheap, aperture priority mode, exposure lock
Cons: bad lens in the kit
I bought a Rebel G kit when I decided to switch from old manual SLR cameras to the modern ones. I traded two old bodies in for this kit and paid $200 on top of it. I can say that I don't regret it. Let me tell you what Rebel G can do.

I has...

Excellent all-rounder

by nmor , Jul 03 '00
Pros: cheap, lightweight, ergonomic
Cons: none, within reasonable expectations given the price
So the marketing people of Canon corporation sat down one day and said "we'll make the camera that everybody - amateur or pro - needs to own". Does such a beast exist? Sure, let's think about it:

The amateur photographer needs...

Super slick sexy silver shooter.

by gphoare , Apr 21 '01
Pros: Great first camera who's power grows with your experience
Cons: None really.
I thought I’d start this review with a few words about my (photography) background, and what I use this camera for – hopefully this will put what I say into context and you can compare it with your own situation.

The Canon EOS Rebel 2000 QD is...

Better Than A Point & Shoot...And That's About It.

by Alkaiser Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jul 13 '00
Pros: Beats a point & shoot.
Cons: Slow response time, autofocusing needs help, not a good sports camera.
When I worked at the New University (The coolest college newspaper. Take a look at my review of it...why would I lie to you? =) as a photographer, we had our choice between 3 camera options.

1) The Rebel
2) The Elan iiE
3) Bring...

Bravely Beyond Point-and-Shoot

by Liffey , Jan 04 '00
Pros: lots of features, light weight, easy as a point-and-shoot
Cons: Rebel 2000 may have better lens, mid-roll rewind finishes up the roll
I'm not a professional photographer, but I take more snapshots than anyone I know. This includes friends with newborns, which must be saying something!

At some point I realized that I needed more than a point and shoot camera. I was tired...

Canon Rebel G Zoom - Fantastic Photos!

by CindyCook , Mar 18 '00
Pros: Simplicity of use, lightweight, pop-up flash
Cons: There is nothing about this camera I don't like!
Last spring I took my trusty, old Canon AE-1 Program camera in to a camera shop for (hopefully) a repair. The camera was approximately 16 years old and had "grown up" with my three children. I was informed by the salesperson that the camera...

A great camera for SLR "newbies"

by bioguy , Feb 06 '01
Pros: Versatile, easy to use
Cons: Not enough features for some advanced users
The typical buyer for the Canon EOS Rebel is someone new to single-lens reflex, or SLR, cameras. SLR cameras have many advantages over cheaper point-and-click models, including more focusing options and the ability to change lenses.

For...

by SanguinMoon , Dec 08 '00
Pros: Ease of use, Lightweight, lot's of great features.
Cons: A little pricey, but that's to be expected. Won't find better for less.
The Canon EOS RebelG is the perfect camera for a number of photographers. Beginners through advanced. Of course, when I say beginners I'm talking about those of you who are interested in learning how to use a manual camera.

It's easy to use...

Pros: Very good camera for not much $$$
Cons: Haven't found any yet

Great photos from an amateur photographer

by ValerieG , May 19 '00
Pros: Ease of use, clear and professional photos, many options, price
Cons: The kit is pretty limited, you need to have a basic knowledge of flash before taking indoor shots
When my husband and I graduated from college, my in laws purchased a Canon Sure Shot camera for us. This camera was a GREAT camera. I was very impressed with the ease and quality of Canon products. Eventually, we had children, and I became an avid...

by utbigrod , Mar 07 '01
Pros: cheap price, features, quality pictures, ease of use, upgradable
Cons: minor defect on flash, stock lense isn't great for wide angle
Let me start by saying I went to New Zealand this summer and took the Rebel G. I took pictures in a multitude of different conditions and under different modes. They all came out superb! I have memories that will last me a lifetime and I owe it to the...
