My preferred camera!

by GypsyPilot , Jul 16 '01
Pros: Compact. Sharp lens. Spot metering. Close-focusing. Unintimidating.
Cons: Autofocus can be fooled.
It's been said that a serious photographer must never be without a camera; just in case that once-in-a-lifetime shot should come along. For those moments, and all the moments of your life, the Olympus Stylus Epic will probably become your little saviour....

Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 80

by jackie_g , Dec 01 '00
Pros: Zoom, self-timer, date imprint
Cons: Can't take anything closer than 2 ft.
I needed a new point-and-shoot to replace my trusty old Olympus of five years (I'm embarrassed to say that I'd dropped it one too many times...it still works, but these are memories I'm taking, and I don't want to be caught off guard one day...), so I...

Olympus Stylus Epic....you can get it wet!!!

by artiste , Jan 27 '01
Pros: Produces good pictures and is waterproof.
Cons: none
The Olympus Stylus Epic is one of the best point-and-shoot designs of all time. However, it just got a lot better. Epic added a faster lens, faster shutter, trick metering, and more.

The Simple-operating Stylus has controls for self-timer,...

A tidy, tough little camera. Great for families.

by Peter-A , Nov 13 '00
Pros: Small, convenient, and takes good snaps
Cons: Uses an expensive battery.
Our old Nikon point-and-click suddenly died on us after 5 years of regular use, so we went shopping for a new camera at London Drugs.

We wanted a small camera, for the economical 35mm standard format, without fancy zoom lenses to go wrong,...

Inexpensive little camera

by estoke61 , Jul 29 '00
Pros: Inexpensive, good basic features, dependable, compact
Cons: Lacks features of better cameras, not professional quality
Stylin' with the Stylus...

I was first introduced to Olympus as a camera company a bunch of years ago. My sister's venerable Kodak DISC camera had had it, and she was looking for something compact, automatic, and...

Amazing Photo Quality

by anytime , Sep 09 '00
Pros: Great Clarity, takes pictures at night
Cons: none
I bought this camera off of my brother's recommendation about two years ago, and it continues to amaze me. The picture quality is incredible, with the ability to adjust to all light conditions for a great shot. Sometimes I wonder if it possible to take...

Amazingly tiny 35mm camera with a great lens

by karasa , Sep 20 '00
Pros: Very compact, inexpensive, sharp lens, f/2.8 aperture (great for indoor / subdued light shooting); 35mm focal length (wide enough for most indoor / party shots, many vacation shots)
Cons: None really
From time to time manufacturers get the "magic formula" of a given type item just right, resulting in a product that's priced right, has all the features you want and none of the gimmicks to get in the way, is a joy to use, and produces...

Little camera that could...

by sliznyak2 , Dec 07 '00
Pros: all-weather, sharp pictures, light weight
Cons: fragile, no zoom
I borrowed this tiny camera for a weekend from my brother so that I wouldn't carry a big SLR around. I didn't really care about a superb quality, just needed to shoot something easy. It was quite a surprise when I developed the pictures, a tiny Stylus...

All-round camera just for YOU!

by Naumov , Oct 06 '00
Pros: Small beauty
Cons: Wanted more manual control options
It is not commercial by Olympus, just opinion of my own!

When I selected camera for myself, I wanted small good-looking camera that takes good pictures. Because large, pro-looking camera are too large to put it in coat's pocket and other...

A Great Adventure Camera

by phrop , Jun 15 '00
Pros: Ligth Wieght, Durable, Splash Proof, Easy to Load, 35mm Lens
Cons: With price in mind there are no cons.
While planning a trip hiking in Arizona I realized that a full size 35mm SLR may become a bulky weight that I’d rather not carry. Especially since this trip was going to be my first backpacking trip longer than one night.

My requirements were...

I Hate Zoom Lenses

by dboreham , Jan 17 '00
Pros: Great optics
Cons: Breakable
The dreaded cheapo zoom lens is hard to avoid these days in a point'n'shoot camera, which is why I love the Stylus Epic.

The zoom lenses on P'n'S cameras suck. They're slow, which means large depth of field (bad for portrait shots). They have...

Dynamite comes in small packages

by Chang , Dec 26 '99
Pros: Compact, sleek, top quality functions and picture results, an overal very cool camera
Cons: Not the best there is, but the best there is for your money and general needs
This is one of my favorite compact 35mm cameras, bottom line. Few cameras pack so many benefits and perks into a small package. It looks good, it feels good. Picture quality is far from sacrificed, however. The automatic focus function is activated...

Cruisin' with the Stylus Epic

by kelr , Oct 24 '99
Pros: 2.8 aperture, focusing range, lightweight, compact, clarity of pictures
Cons: no filter mount, no zoom
How did I become convinced of the merits of the Stylus Epic point-and-shoot automatic camera?

First, at work a fellow software engineer brought in volumes of pictures of his infant that were taken with the Stylus Epic (35mm, F2.8, fixed...
