The AKG 270S is a closed studio headphone. It features 2 drivers in each rather large ear piece. Frequency response is 20-20KHz. It comes with a 10 ft single sided cable terminated to a mini with a 1/4" adapter supplied. They are 75ohm impedance per...
Pros: Comfort, loudness, analytic Cons: Bass region not according to audiophiles' needs but what the heck.
AKG headphones aren't new to me; some 20 years ago I first got some technical papers about K 240, then called "Sextett Kardan" describing some novel approaches in construction (one large active and six smaller passive membranes surrounding it)....
Pros: Incredible for music production. No distortion. Cons: Price. Ear Suction
I am an electric guitar player. I used to play primarily through headphones because I lived with my parents and they did not appreciate me cranking up my amp and rattling the windows. So I would use effect pedals and play into the amp and out to...
first off, don't even waste your time buying these things, in fact don't even waste your time giving 'em a listen; these are perhaps one of worst sounding (expensive or otherwise) headphones around. period.
Just a quick note - these are amazing headphones, a recording studio standard. by dbkelley ,Jul 31 '07
Pros: ACCURATE, super high sound level capability, great isolation, great for professional recording. Cons: a couple of db lower bass than I'd expect.
If you want to know what your music was intended to sound like by the original recording artist and recording engineer, please purchase these headphones and start studying what accurate sound reproduction sounds like. Admittedly, slightly lacking in lower bass, these headphones DO provide accurate bass without excessive artificial harmonic content unlike most headphones that seem to have a ton of bass but most of it is fairly muddy (there are excellent exceptions however, beyerdynamic and sony make a pair each of great headphones with a lot of bass, but they are not superior in any other way to these headphones and may be inferior as far as midrange distortion and flatness goes).
Wonderful headphones. Maybe not ideal though if you want to listen to music in a complimentary way (that makes music sound arguably better than it originally did through artifical EQ etc).
