There are two things I personally look for in a headphone set. These are sound quality and comfort. The K-66 headphones are up to par at both and are versatile in the fact that you can use them for listening to music but you can also use them for ...
Pros: AKG quality, wonderful attention to every sound detail, extremely comfortable, good value Cons: May not give enough bass for some, no built in volume control
I'm sure you agree that there are very few things that are worth spending just a little more on. Take my scenario: I play the keyboard, sometimes at hours that just wouldn't be appropriate to have the volume at full blast. The solution seemed simple...
Pros: Excellent Natural and Airy sound. Light and comfortable. Cons: Not sturdy because it is all plastic. Too big to be portable.
The Good:
My Philips HP510 was nearing the end of its life prompting me to look for a replacement. As I was replacing a less than $50 dollar headphones that served me well for more than 2 years, my budget was still pegged at $50....
Pros: Great comfort and sound for the price, easily driven Cons: Too big to be portable
I used to own a pair of Philips HP-550 and used to think they were the greatest deal for $30. But a week ago I saw an ad where the shop was selling the AKG K66 for the reduced price of just $30. Knowing AKG is a quality headphone brand it got me...
Pros: Clear sound with punchy bass and pleasing highs. Cons: Not comfortable for extended periods of time.
I've had a pair of these for years now. I'm no audiophile, but I'm rather demanding when it comes to my headphones. These offer good sound. They're clear and punchy. Very good for the price. Don't expect high end sound from a $40 pair of headphones, though. However they do their job. My problem with them is comfort. The rubbery ear pads are soft, but they also get very hot after a while. Also there's no way to adjust how hard they push against your ears, so they're not very comfortable for extended periods of time.
K66 Yes! The best among budget headphone. by laomao ,Aug 18 '04
Pros: Musical ! comfortable, accurate, works well with discman Cons: It would be more comfortable if it had the ear pad like the K501.
I first heard the K55 in Singapore's Esplanade library, and the K55 works extremely well, with a Pioneer car stereo set. It's musicality would probably put many higher end gears to shame. so is the K66. I do owned some very good headphone, such as the AKG 271 Studio, the K501, the Sennheiser, HD 560 Ovation II, 570 and 580 and a cheap Grado SR-60. If you compare the K66 with these very fine headphones, it lacks refinement of all the above, if you compare it with Sennheiser, the Sennheiser, generally sounded "sweeter", however, the K66 sounded more "real" !. Perhaps my K66 still needs more time to have it completely broken in. It also sounded a little "plastic-tary". But if you don't compare it with other cans. No doubts it's very good on it's own accord. Despite having so many headphones, I bought one for my bedroom, listen to good music before I sleep.
These semi-open headphones combine excellent sound with optimum price/performance. The proven self-adjusting headband, soft, circumaural leatherette e...More at Amazon Marketplace
