Outstanding value player in the entry-level class

by mgwdch , Mar 29 '05
Pros: Impressive DVD and audio CD performance, easy to use, plays any DVD or CD.
Cons: None except that MP3/WMA discs have 1 second silence between tracks.
DVD player prices have dropped dramatically in the last few years. In 2005 we have a huge choice of players in the entry level bracket of under $200 Australian ($150 US). But beware - there's some real garbage being sold at this price range. The ...

Cinema-like experience

by stusouth , Jun 17 '01
Pros: progressive scan with 3:2 pulldown Excellent picture
Cons: chroma upsampling error no dvd audio
After reading a great deal about progressive scanning, I decided to replace my interlace dvd player. I wanted a player that took advantage of my HD ready set. One thing I stumbled upon in my research was the dreaded "chroma upsampling error," where the...

Progressive Scan well done

by patrickthickey , Dec 08 '00
Pros: feature set, image quality, warranty
Cons: remote is really lame and useless
I purchased this player after determining the quality of a progressive scan player to be sufficient to warrant the upgrade. There are more than a few such non-interlaced units, but not all of them are a balanced unit.

The analogy I use is that...

This is it.

by valen092 , Jul 29 '01
Pros: Lots
Cons: Remote. Gloss finish
The reason I chose this unit. I new it would work with my Pioneer 64 inch TV. As not all players will work with all HDTVs using P, Cr, Cb output. 31K out. I would say check with your manufacturer. I am not going to get into the tech stuff. You can go to...

another great performer in the Elite Line

by babylon , May 07 '01
Pros: Elegant design,quality components,fantastic picture
Cons: Should have been DVD-Audio capable at this price
I had been using and enjoying my 3rd generation Toshiba player..However I had become annoyed at the delay in track access as well as some performance quirks with certain DVDs..I have many Elite products, but was not "set" on a Elite unit because of...

Progressive Scan dvd player

by loudsystem , Apr 29 '01
Pros: great picture and sound, nice clean sleek look
Cons: cheap remote that doe not light up
Well, I first purchased the Pioneer Elite DVC36 but completely unsatisfied with it I purchased the DV37. Once I got home and put it in I was blown away. The sound improved along with the picture.

The remote is unsatisfying though. It looks...

Pioneer Elite DV-37

by mmptm9 , Feb 27 '02
Pros: Incredible picture mated with RPTV.
Cons: Remote could be more ergonomic.
I have had many many DVD players over the years but this one is by far the best I've ever had. The true 3:2 cinema pulldown, elaborate settings to tweak to your heart's delight for the best possible picture, and Pioneer Elite styling make this one a...

goforit

Pros: Picture quality amazing. One disc capability/simple to use operation. Progressive scan.
Cons: One unit malfunctioned, but I bought it locally ($700) and they quickly exchanged it.
The unit does what you expect it to do. It is a progressive scan unit and has a digital connection to the AVR for the Dolby Digital and the DTS capability. The first unit I bought skipped every disc I own and was immediately returned at a local...

Great DVD player
by kelsci ,Apr 01 '06
Pros: Picture,D.D.and DTS audio thru S-VHS and Coax audio output
Cons: Remote is annoying to use
VIDEO: Superb through S-VHS output on Sony 35 inch CRT tv.
AUDIO: D.D. AND DTS is superb via coax connection to receiver. CD audio is VG via coax, good thru analog connection.

A Pioneer DV-525 played thru this system. That player is no slouch, but the audio/video performance of the DV-37 knocked that other player out of the water.

If audio is a key feature on your surround system, you will want to use the DV-37. The best analogy I could give is like using a Shure M91ED phono cartridge in comparison to a Shure V15 type 3 cartridge. On a higher end surround sound system, you will hear a tremendous difference with this player.
