I have had this Sony camcorder for at least five or six years. It has been a real performer. Lately it has been malfunctioning. (A word to the wise: when it starts to go, let it go. I invested $70 in repairs that don't seem to have been effective in solving the problem.) But I got a lot of use out of it, for years.

I've owned this camara for 7 years and it is still going strong. It has been to europe and back, highschool dances, basketball games, college. If it was a mini dv camara, i would never buy a new one.

A great camcorder as a 1st camcorder, but not ideal for a pro. The cam corder is compact, and with a duracell battery (for 5 hours recording capability), it is a ideal unit for the trail hiker, or a hill climber. The zoom will replace need for a separate binoculars. Video quality is good, but the Microphone will pick up wind and so a remote mic is recommended.
