The Bel 970, also known as Vector LR is the best radar detector I have found yet. If the Valentine One can beat out the 970, then hats off to it. Go to Beltronics own website and look at it's test results. The 970 beat the 980 in sensitivity tests. Yet...

Just bought the 970LR from a guy I work with for $65.00 He used it for a year and a half before me. Works great, hardly any false alarms and a great range. I tend to drive 10 to 15 over the speed limit and it has already been a lifesaver. I've heard the 980, 985, the new RX55/RX65 are really reliable also.

I bought the 970lr about two years ago after I realised the V-1 I bought wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. After spending a fortune on the v-1 and getting many tickets with it I decided to try Bell and I have never been happier!:) The 970 lr is reliable,has great range and hardly ever falses,especially on lazer. It is nice and small and compact and even has a "tech mode" the v-1 still doesn't have.If you can find this detector still you will have found one wonderful unit. It is the base that breed all the newer Bell vector units that from what I have heard are equally good.
