Thinkpad 600 - THE International Business Machine!

by koottung , Aug 22 '00
Pros: lightweight, fast, screen, long uptime
Cons: video out connector
I am a long time IBM laptop fan. IBM laptops, unlike other laptops, have a following. Why? Because IBM makes excellent laptops that will deliver time after time through meetings and presentations. When it comes to your crucial business pitch, why...

My first IBM laptop

by elastica , Dec 13 '00
Pros: Great screen. Very durable and reliable. Great company to buy from.
Cons: Floppy drive is external. Doesn't have a DVD player
My company handed this laptop to me on day 1. I've owned two other laptops, a 133mhz Compaq and a 233mhz Micron. I would say that the functionality and reliability between the Micron and the Thinkpad are the same, but the Thinkpad is slimmer and less...

Decent machine, but make your company pay for it

by jkeating1a , Dec 15 '99
Pros: light weight for all the options and power
Cons: a little flaky
My 600E is a fairly powerful machine, but has a few glitches. Mine is one of the earlier versions that was released before the P3, but I've got DVD, a decent amount of RAM, acceptable hard drive space, but bad power management detract from it.

600x

by chiafu , May 20 '00
Pros: light, high quality keyboard, great audio output
Cons: very bad video chip, video out signal doesn't look right, expensive,
i have no choice about this one since it is a company policy to buy a ibm laptop.

(I tried to order a toshiba 8100 butI got the ibm 600x-P3 650)

good things:

1. light, high quality case, very good keyboard (best of all...

Ultralights vs. Nice&Light

by Thomcat_V , Sep 07 '00
Pros: Solid in every way
Cons: outdated video card
As a preface to this review, I prefer ultralight laptops (4 pounds and under) and so have significant experience with Thinkpad 560s, Omnibook 900s and Sojourns, and Toshiba Porteges [most reviews available on epinions of course]. This is my first foray...

Darn Near Perfect!

by scrum , Sep 22 '00
Pros: Quality, Performance, Easy, Durable, keyboard, stability, service...
Cons: Price is a little high, may be a little large compared to ultra-portables
Bottom line: I love IBM laptops. What's not to love: excellent tech and warranty support, quick turnaround, truly stable platform and, in my opinion, the best keyboard in the laptop world. Now they pack all this into a highly portable desktop...

Fast, Reliable, and Linux-Friendly

by Jag1820 , Dec 20 '99
Pros: Fast, reliable, light weight, great keyboard
Cons: Price (until now!), mediocre display in Windows, no gaming
This is the second ThinkPad I've owned, the first being a 380D with a 233MHz MMX processor and a measly 2 GB hard drive. But I've always coveted the 600E series -- there's not a sleeker, sturdier, or more reliable notebook on the planet. All of this is...

An Incredible Workhorse

by shivohum , Sep 14 '99
Pros: Low weight, reliable, nice screen, wonderful keyboard, excellent support, standardization, accessories
Cons: Price, doesn't serve some specialty needs
When I was considering notebooks, I was torn between getting a big Dell Inspiron 7000, a Thinkpad, or a subnotebook.

The Dell was fast and had a large screen, but it was heavy and bulky. A subnotebook would have been extremely portable and...

Cream of the crop laptop.

by mosborne76 , Mar 28 '00
Pros: Everything.
Cons: not the cheapest.
I work for a software company in Austin Texas. We love our laptops, they give us the freedom to work from home, planes, backyards, rooftops, passenger seats, just about anywhere. We also abuse our laptops, running multiple business apps with enterprise...

IBM ThinkPad 600E a Quality Notebook

by kcarnes , Dec 10 '99
Pros: power and general reliability
Cons: average battery life and rare blue screen
I received a IBM Thinkpad 600E about a month ago from my place of work. It was slated to replace my desktop. At first I was skeptical, but now I am a true believer! It has proven to be a quality product and reliable.

The computer provides...

A sweet machine, even if it is from IBM

by stefanb , Dec 13 '99
Pros: Fun quick machine
Cons: No good mouse included
Wow, this machine is sweet. Yeah, I really didn't expect it, because of the whole stigma of IBM in the late 1980s. It seemed that the machines that IBM put out were slower and more expensive than all of the compatibles. But in the past couple of...

IBM rules

by bmarko , Jan 12 '00
Pros: Slim
Cons: I only have one of them
The IBM Think pad is a superior machine. I own three thinkpads now and am in love with my 600e. It is much lighter than the 770 series, which I also think is a fine computer. The 600e has not had a single glitch in the 9 months that I've been using...

A Good Buy

by brettiscool , Feb 14 '00
Pros: Good Sound and Support
Cons: Slow dialup connection
I have had the IBM Thinkpad 600 for a few months now and I love it. It is so good and the sound quality is also good. The way you can update the computer is also good and I really like Windows 98. I also like the fact that this computer has a lot of...

Everything you need at a reasonable price.

by bkottmann , Dec 13 '99
Pros: Powerful, easy to use, nice screen
Cons: A little pricey
My Thinkpad 600E has everything onboard...even two of some things! Yet they all work together with nary a Blue Screen of Death in sight. Since I mainly use the computer on a LAN, a 3COM 56K/10-100 Ethernet combo PCMIA card is used for communication. A...

I am thinking about ThinkPad..."lots of problems"

by stse , Aug 16 '01
Pros: Good big screen
Cons: everything else
I had a chance to help people with this IBM thinkpad 600 machine.

First of all, when I look at the machine, I didn't have a good feeling already because of the mouse.

The mouse is a little round thing in the middle and the click is...
