One of the Most Powerful, Best Sounding Stereo Systems Under $200

by dxbari , Jul 15 '02
Pros: Amazing sound irrespective of price. 240 Watts of power.
Cons: At this price point there aren't any. Simply a pure music machine.
The Philips FW-C550 is the best $180 I have spent on audio equipment. Like many folks who enjoy music, I have a nice sounding home theater system in the living room. And it sits there collecting dust because I spend my time away from it working in...

Pros: Easy to use. Lots of Power. Great sound
Cons: Could Be a 3 way speaker system, and play MP3
I bought this stereo a year and a half ago and I was pretty Impressed. It was at walmart on sale from 230 to 200 bucks. I got 30 bucks off it because it was the last one and it was a dammaged box. so I got it for 170 bucks. I said wow what a deal. I...

by health2100 , May 12 '03
Pros: great sound
Cons: ugly look
Before buying this system I went to a few retail stores with my own CD and cassettes to test different shelf audio systems. I tested at least 25-30 systems. This one initially repelled me by it's look (I must admit it looks strange with all those yellow...

Excellent system

by alamkarb , Apr 04 '02
Pros: Great Sound! Affordable price
Cons: No direct track access
This unit outperforms systems costing hundreds of dollars more. The controls are easy to use, and the unit has a very cool appearance featuring a large db meter. The FW-C550 has several sound settings such as surround, dynamic bass, digital sound...
