Great on paper, terrible execution

by mothadone , Mar 30 '07
Pros: Large green display, good sound, easy to use, versatile alarm configurations.
Cons: Poor build quality and analog tuner.
This clock radio was EXACTLY what I was looking for. It has a 2 stage alarm that you can set in any combination you wish. Radio first, then alarm etc. It has a CD player with pretty decent sound for its size and you can even set it up to wake up to any ...

Different and cool

by atlantamoi , Jan 23 '03
Pros: Cool looking, nice sound, reliable
Cons: Buttons not intuitive, bass causes CD to tremble
I owned a GE digital clock radio from 1978 to 2000. That's quite a long time and when it finally started to act up I decided I would get something else I wanted to have around as long (dream on buddy). I was willing to spend more for a decent clock...

Great but bright

by griswolm , Nov 10 '03
Pros: Good sound and bass, good reception, Dual alarms, talking
Cons: Very Bright backlight, vibration from bass
I got this as a store return. Slightly marked and no original box or manual, but over 50% off (cost me $74). The sound is good, the talking feature is nice. My problem is that I didn't get a manual and the backlight is very bright. If there is a way...

Unreliable - Sony Paperweight
by mitenkop ,Aug 25 '04
Pros: Sounded great when it worked.
Cons: Needs repair once per year. LED dim setting too bright.
Forget Sony's reputation for quality:

After just over a year (just outside of warranty) a diode failed requiring a $50 repair (to diagnose and replace a $1.00 part).

Subsequent failure (just over a year later) diagnosed as micro-controller failure requiring $150 repair. --Didn't bother. I now own a substantial clock radio-shaped paper weight.
