I like my camcorder, it takes good video, but I didn't have a robust enough PC to take advantage of the firewire until 8 months after I bought the camera. Then the third time I used the firewire, it didn't work. I was a real Sony fan, thought they had good quality and most of my electronics are Sony, but my Sony TV went down three weeks later, so either I'm the problem, or Sony isn't as high a quality product as I thought.

The DV out jack of the camera does not work. I've put a new firewire card and port and bought a new firewire (also known as iLink and IEEE), and it still doesn't work. I'm trying to download the video into Adobe Premiere Elements, which I paid $100 for. The same connections and wire work perfectly well with a friend's Canon camera. I spent 3 hours on the phone with Adobe and they concluded it was the camera. Of course, the warrantee has already run out. Sony repair at an authorized dealer is $269 flat fee.

I bought this camera with the specific interest of downloading video to the computer, and I can't do it because the camera is defective.
