You may seriously question my opinions and taste when I tell you I am a huge Howard Stern fan. Sorry! As such, I became a member of the Sirius Satellite family in January 2007. My husband set me up with the Sportster Satellite Radio Receiver and ...
If you're like me, you don't like hearing advertisements. They interrupt, they're annoying, and you have probably asked yourself, "I'd pay to not listen to any commercials". Well, XM and its main competitor, Sirius, have filled this niche with ...
Pros: Sleek looking, easy to use, lots of features, pause/rewind capability. Cons: Slight volume control issue on the unit (see description)
I've owned the Sirius Sportster 4 Receiver and accompanying service for about a month now and I am very pleased with it. The receiver is very sleek and pleasant looking, easy to use, and is loaded with useful features that make satellite radio easier to ...
I got this unit back in early Sept 06 when my XM Sky Fi Delphi 2 got stolen at the mall when I parked there to attend a Yankee game. I had bought this off of eBay and had it installed at Circuit City (Middletown NY). They did a good job there with the ...
Pros: the radio looks very nice compared to others Cons: unreliable, terrible customer service.
I purchased this unit and subscribed to Sirius in December and was moderately happy for almost a month. While my radio worked, I noticed a great many "overplayed" songs. The stations tend to play the same 20 or so songs over and over again. Then my ...
Pros: Specialty programming and variety in remote locations Cons: Monthly fee, hard to see the screen in bright light.
I purchased this Sirius radio for my husband as a birthday present because he loves to listen to his college football team on the radio. Depending on where we are driving, sometimes the static would drive me insane. I chose Sirius because they carried ...
Pros: sleek design, preset channels, memory capability, easy to read display, easy installation Cons: unavailability of parts when they break, has problems detecting the antenna, randomly shuts off
Ahhh radio without commercials...every commuter's dream, right? The concept is absolutely great and I love everything about sirius itself. This receiver? There is good and bad, but first let me give you some general info on features: The entire kit ...
Pros: Artist Seek Alert, Smaller, Stylish Looking Cons: FM transmitter not integrated and is weak, Car Adaptor sucks, older Sportster is better quality.
I have had sirius radio since Howard Stern came over. I have listened to it in my car and at home at least 4 hours per day since I got it. I originally had the original Sportser 1. I was very happy with it, never had any problems, except I wanted to ...
Pros: there are really no pros with the problems I've had to deal with, Cons: cheaply made equipment which just does not hold up, horrible customer service
ordered and had a sirius sportser installed, and bought a home unit dock,.. after 6 months the car unit started saying no antennae detected, so i had to buy a new antennae "40 bucks" then a few months later,.. same thing, but this timeits the car docking ...
Pros: Buttons work well, durable product, lights up perfectly. Easy to navigate stations. Cons: It's not plug and play. Reception is completely unusable with the fm modulator.
First off - the unit is fantastic. Sirius did a good job with it. However, the fm modulator is complete trash. If you do not hard wire your unit to an auxillary port (front or back of your car stereo) it WILL NOT get reception. I roll down the street listening to snoop dog and the rice crispy band. So much static and popping it's annoying.
Great except FM transmitter by parmleyvc ,Jan 08 '07
Pros: Great features (especially memory feature). Ease of use. Cons: FM transmission too weak to be functional.
I have an older Sirius radio that works great with FM transmission. I bought the Sportster for a new car. The features are great, but the FM transmission is much too weak to be worthwhile. I thought there was something wrong with the radio, and exchanged it for another, but the FM transmission was still very poor with the second radio, and essentially non-functional. This unit must be hard wired into the car radio to work.
Pros: Radio looks nice, big screen, sleek, nice docking system. Cons: Simply: it does not work as advertised, not even close.
I received the sportster 4 as a gift for the holidays; a replacement for an old-school starmate that I had for a couple of years. The reception (on my car radio) was so bad that I assumed the radio was defective and returned it. Sirius messed up the processing and it took over 3 weeks to get my replacement radio; I'm convinced it never would've arrived (yet, of course, my subscription would've kept right on running) if I hadn't called them multiple times.
The reception problem on the new radio is the same and this one will not even activate now -- I've spent multiple hours with them on the phone and time wasted -- and now have a second radio to be mailed back to Sirius.
Pros: Nice reception at home. Cons: Terrible reception in car with FM transmitter.
Bought the Sportster primarily for use in car. Installed as recommended by manufacturer and cannot get any reception in car at all. Nothing helps. May have to get hard-wired. Works fine in home system so problem lies in transmitter, even with additional FM booster. Very poor. If you plan to use in your car, there must be better units available, don't buy this.
As the other reviews read, the FM transmitter is terrible. in their defence, Sirius claims that the FCC has made them reduce the output power???? I called and complained, they're are send, at NO charge the direct wire kit that goes in the antenae wire. Will review after that.
