Porter-Cable 2" Brad Nailer BN200A

Pros: Works as advertised. Lightweight. Easy to load and use. Cheaper than the Stanley, $89.00.

Finally got around to pulling up the 16 year old carpet in the living room and replacing it with 9/16" engineered hardwood flooring. Since there was going to be a lot of places where the flooring stapler could not be used (mainly close to the walls), I decided to buy a brad nailer to make life easier.

The Porter Cable BN200A did the trick. It handles 3/4" TO 2" 18-gauge brads. I bought the Porter Cable brads also just to be safe. It made short work of face-nailing the edge pieces of flooring, setting the head of the brad just below the surface of the floor. No jams yet, but have only shot around 300 brads so far.

Also looked at the Stanley Bostitch SB-1850, and, in fact, bought it first when I couldn't find the Porter Cable at the closest Home Depot. But, the Home Depot didn't have any brads for it, so I would have been stuck with the 2" brads that came in the case. When I found the Porter cable at another store along with the desired brads, I took the Stanley back.

Pros: If use use it gently on soft wood, it is o.k. Light weight
Cons: Soft tip comes off and it broke in one day

Bought this at Home Depot and it lasted one day. My son and I used it for putting up paneling. Irritating that the soft tip rubber nose came off too often. After about 30 panels, it stopped working. Returned it.
