Pros: Solid construction, Easy operation, Long comfortable stride, Programmable ramp and resistance, quiet smooth operation Cons: Heart rate monitor erratic
I am reviewing the CX990 (upgraded model). I bought mine from Sears on sale, and bought the extended warranty (4 years in home coverage). It took my wife and I about 3 hours to assemble the unit (it does take two people). The main base portion was a ...
Pros: Worked ok for about two months. Cons: Difficult to assemble, unsteady, so many problems it stopped working after 4 MONTHS.
I needed a cardio machine that I could use at home, since I don't have time in my day to visit a gym. I looked online to try to find the best elliptical (I get bad shin splints, and have since given up running) since I have enjoyed using them at the gym ...
Pros: Solid construction, lots of options, very smooth operation. Quiet. Cons: No real upper body workout, big.
I've had the machine for a week now, got it from Sears on sale. From the other reviews I was a bit worried about quality, but everything was in the box and working fine. Assembly is not trivial, takes a bit of creativity in places and a lot of time. ...
Pros: Name brand. Features. Full body workout. Smoothness. Quiet. Cons: Price.
I had a NordicTrack treadmill which I reviewed and loved. Had for a few years but when I got on this elliptical trainer, I sold the treadmill and purchased the CXT-990.
I consider it the best of both worlds when it comes to cardio workouts....
Pros: Smooth Operation, Multiple exercise programs, many options to vary workout routine with iFit. Cons: Terrible customer service, quality rather suspect
Having owned one of their older models (from 2000) which had no problems I decided to upgrade. BIG Mistake! Don't get me wrong this is a great machine...when it works. They dropped it off on A Thursday...and within 1 hour it quit working. So I ...
Pros: easy operation, easy on joints Cons: clunking noise
In April 2005, I bought a Nordictrack 990 from the Nordictrack store in a mall. It cost $799 plus shipping. I did not take the additional $50 for installation. I wish I had-- it took my husband and I almost two hours to install it! It definitely requires ...
Pros: Good looking, easy to program, easy to use. You get a good cardio workout Cons: It's VERY HEAVY. Have three men to move it into your house.
My wife and I are in our early 40's and we wanted to get a piece of equipment that would give us a decent cardio workout. We looked at treadmills, weren't impressed, and felt that they were boring. I didn't see the draw to having a treadmill. A friend ...
Pros: Great low-impact cardio workout w/ good programs. Also is easy to use. Cons: Manufacturing flaws such as loud crank, and parts that don't fit too well.
For the price, the machine is worth it. I looked into several different models and this one gave me the programs that I wanted for the price I needed. It isn't something you'd find in a gym, but it gives you a great workout still. I found mine for...
Pros: Best of the less expensive home elliptical trainers Cons: Not anything like the elliptical trainers you will find at the Gyms
I have owned my NordicTrack CXT 990 for about 6 months now. I paid $799 at the NordicTrack store, they had this machine on sale for about 2 weeks. I purchased the upgraded warranty for a total of 5 years and a total price of $975 (Check the store before...
Pros: Price Cons: Broken in just a month - design flaw that Nordic Track will not warranty
Similar to other machines in the CXT series, this elliptical is a disappointment. There is a design problem with the machine. Nordic Track (Icon Health and Fitness) has sent two techs to my house and they have not yet fixed the problem. After taking...
Pros: Solid design (apart from wheels) Cons: Cheesy plastic hubs in the pedal wheels.
We bought the CXT 990 about 6 weeks ago, and have been quite satisfied with it up until day before yesterday. The machine developed a loud squeak from the left pedal, and examination revealed that the plastic hub of the wheel that rides on the ramp was ...
Pros: preprogramed workouts Cons: durability is questionable
I bought the version that was a step down from the very best model. At first, I loved it. Has 20 preprogramed workouts. you can adjust resistance and ramp to change a work out even more. But after a few months, and no I wasn't regualar on it every week, it makes a funny noise from the wheels, and two pieces that cover the conecting parts on the wheel area have fallen off. The machine is heavy, and a pain to put together. You have to have at least two people, and put it together where you are going to work out so you don't get a hernia trying to move it.
Pros: Lots of information on console, fan keeps you cool, 6 programs , very sturdy machine. Cons: Would be hard to move around. Must be near an electrical outlet for power.
I purchased my Nordic Track Elliptical at Sear's. I use the Nordic Track skier and wanted to add something new to my fitness routine. I knew that Sears did a price match and had a great delivery and set up price so I really wanted to get my NTE there. We have been wanting an elliptical since last Christmas.
I called to around to find the lowest price which was $699 at the Nordic Track store. Sears price matched plus gave me an additional $10 off. There delivery and set up fee was $45. I was really pleased with the delivery and set up. From the Nordic Track store it would have been $85 for delivery alone.
My husband and I really like it so far, but obviously we are just getting started. Sears will back it for one year. Neither of us weigh more than 170 so we don't see the machine struggling at all. And I love all the read-outs and fans. So far it all works just as it says. Obviously I can't speak to any future problems we might encounter.
BROKEN again. Buyer beware. by pattih95 ,Sep 13 '05
Pros: There are none. Cons: Everything about this company appears to be a con.
Don't buy this machine. In fact, don't buy from Nordic Track at all!! I received a CXT 990 as an "upgrade" from Nordic Track after my 910 broke after 3 months of use (just read the reviews, apparently this is NORMAL!). Last night, I heard the worst clunking noise from the right pedal. Got off the elliptical immediately and figured I would call customer service this morning to have a tech come look at it. Well, my husband got on the machine this morning since he missed hearing the noise last night and the back cover FELL OFF!!! He took a closer look and the bolt/welded piece that held the right pedal mechanism onto the back of the machine is broken completely off. I'm waiting to hear back from the service dept about what they are willing to do for me since it's no longer under warranty. I thought perhaps this was a fluke thing, happening twice to the same person, but it seems to be a fatal flaw with Nordic Track machines. I'm really unimpressed and will continue to spread the word!!
Don't Buy This Machine!!!! by kcourtney ,Aug 01 '05
Pros: None, unless you give them credit for taking our money and running. Cons: It doesn't work, they can't repair it, and their customer service is incompetent.
We've owned the machine for 6 months and it didn't work from the beginning, even after paying the Nordic Track store $50 to assemble it! After repeated efforts to have the machine repaired -- all in good faith on our part -- it still doesn't work. The technicians have come to our home 3 times, with new parts, and they can't get it to work!!! To make matters worse, the customer service at Icon is the most pathetic we've ever seen. How they stay in business is a mystery. No quality. No accountability. No integrity. They should be ashamed of themselves.
