Pros: Easy to install, works as advertised Cons: Very high MSRP, can overdrive your cable modem.
I've had DirecTV for the last seven years, my house didn't even have cable run to it! Where I live the only high speed Internet option for me is from the cable company. I had the lines installed and decided it would be more economical to have cable TV ...
Pros: Easy to install. Improves cable picture quality immensely. Cons: Expensive unless bought over the Internet.
Back in September when we had the cable company come out to install our cable modem for high speed Internet, they added a 3 way splitter outside to accommodate the digital/analog line coming in to our family room, the digital/analog line coming in to our ...
Pros: Excellent job of boosting a weak cable or vhf signal. Cons: Haven't found any yet.
This is a great device that does exactly what it claims to do - boost a weak cable (or antenna) signal to increase the quality and clarity of your tv picture. It works on both analog and broadband digital signals, as well as for cable modem transmission,...
Pros: No more snow. Signal is great. Cons: None so far.
Update on 8/10/04: We had to split the cable at the point of origin so that the cable modem was on a line without the signal booster. The signal booster was producing feedback and cutting off the signal from the cable modem. You may have to make this ...
My Cable (Internet) service was consistently on for 30 min, and then off for 3 hours. When it did work, it was slow. All the cable company could tell me was that I was loosing signal strength at the splitter I put in. They were more than willing to...
Pros: Works as promised. High quality. Cons: None to speak of.
I bought a Sharp Aquos before Christmas and recently started exploring OTA HDTV. When I bought my house there was an antenna in the attic (a classic VHF/UHF antenna), so I hooked that up to the TV to see what channels I could get. Unfortunately, my local Fox affiliate would not tune and my local NBC station was intermittent--they are both about 35-40 miles away.
I first tried switching to a "HD" antenna from Terk, but this was worse than the classic antenna.
Then I hooked up the signal booster. Suddenly, I have all of my locals plus a few I didn't even know existed. The signal is perfect and a lot of the signals are even stronger than what I was getting over a cable from Comcast! Now, I can even get one station which is located approximately 180 degrees from where the antenna is pointed--although this station is only about 12 miles away.
Anyway, at the end of the month I am cancelling my Comcast subscription since I now have crystal clear HD for free!
Pros: the increase in signal strength very evident. Cons: however there is a faint white line running moving from the bottom of the screen.
with seven cable jacks scattered throughout the house it was quite frustrating to get clear signal in only two.
after surfing the net i saw the mostly positive reviews on the Motorola signal booster and i decided to give it a try.
first we traced all the cable lines running through the house. we tested each to establish a signal benchmark. as mentioned 5 of the cable jacks registered poor signals all fuzzy and snowy with the audio barely intelligible. then we checked the interconnections and true enough the contractor did a really SHODDY job by just splicing ( yeah cheap b****** didn't even use SPLITTERS) the cables. we removed the splicing. then we tested each cable jack by connecting each in turn to the main cable. signal improved by about 30 % but was still far from being decently viewable . Then we installed splitter for each of the cable jacks.signal went up by another 10 % Then we installed the Motorola signal booster at the junction box where the cable fed into the house. the signal strength JUMPED and we were receiving clear signals throughout the house.
Motorola (484095-001-00) The Motorola Signal Booster is designed to amplify broadband signal strength up to 32 times and help eliminate the common effects of snowy television ...
