Pros: Protects surfaces and provides a shine to make them look like new again Cons: Smell is strong
My husband is a manager of an Auto Parts store and is always trying new car care products to improve the condition of our vehicle's body. He had noticed the bumpers on our Minivan seemed to have a whitish residue on them and wanted to remove this...
Pros: Makes your old plastic molding/trim look new again with a nice shine. Cons: Dust/Pollen magnet. Rain seems to make it rinse off leaving streaks.
I own an older BMW that has a lot of plastic door trim and along the entire bottom. It is a pain to keep looking nice. I would always get a car wash, and the paint on the whole car would look awesome, but the plastic would be dull and still dirty ...
Pros: Makes black mouldings, plastics, and trim BLACK. It does a great job on other vinyl surfaces too, regardless of color. Cons: None that I have run into.
Background
I was originally turned on to mothers products by my eldest brother quite some time ago. When I obtained my first Honda, a 1982 Civic 4dr, he immediately recommended cleaning the paint with Mothers P1 Pre-Wax Cleaner and...
Pros: does everything it claims to do and more, and does it very well Cons: attracts dust like a magnet when wet, but so does everything else that's wet.
Mother's back to black could be called Snake Oil, and in fact it is... and it works, very very well. I bought this stuff to fix up the black plastic shrouds of the side view mirrors on my (now destroyed) thunderbird, the results of which were no less ...
Pros: Good on true dark black Cons: Will turn some plastic white!!
WARNING FORD F150 0WNERS!!! Do not use this product on lightly colored black surfaces. I used this product on the plastic moldings that cover the top edges on the F150 pickup bed. This plastic is almost a "Grayish Black" color and shined...
Pros: Excellent product that restores trim to it's original hue. Cons: None yet.
Mothers Back to Black is a product designed to restore faded, wax-stained or otherwise discolored plastic or vinyl trim. It does just that.
I recently noticed that the big, shiny "VW" badge on the back of my VW Jetta was looking rather faded and...
Pros: It was easy to use and I got a fantastic result. Cons: None that I know of but I don't know about the long-term effects.
My car (a Mini Cooper) has a strip of black plastic that runs all around the bottom of the car. It had gotten grey and worn looking and no matter how much I washed the car, that strip never looked black. Yesterday, I detailed my car and one product I used was Mothers Back-to-Black. My car looks brand new now. The black strip is BLACK again. I love the result and the product was very easy to use. I'd recommend it highly.
I was 'trying' to use this on the side view mirror of my truck. The black trim has faded and turning grayer.
This product looked great when it went on, but as soon as it dried the color was the same, but even worse as this product seemed to leave a residue. No amount of buffing would work.
Pros: Works for a little bit Cons: Oily residue, collects dirt, doesn't last, runs and streaks with water.
I tried this product in attempt to restore the bumper trim on my car back to a nice dark shade. It looks relatively okay when it goes on, but then you notice that it leaves a horrible residue that you can't remove! Worse yet, if it rains or you get any water on your car, the product will run and streak. Save yourself the trouble and get an actual dye. I went and bought Forever Black (not sure if there is a brand name, or that might be it) about a year ago. The trim is still dark, it doesn't run and it's completely dry to the tough.
