I was looking for a silver, S-VHS VCR and one that had S-video output. Basically, JVC was my only option. Consumer Reports gave it an excellent performance rating and stated it was the only S-VHS unit in there tests that actually produced improved...

This unit was purchased to improve old VHS tapes that other machines played poorly, demonstrating tracking errors and considerable noise. The machine did exactly that. I was delighted to recover old tapes that I believed were no longer visible. I will now use this as my primary VHS player to copy to DVD for archiving. This is easily the best VHS unit I've ever owned or seen.
