Stratego-Inexcusable CD version by liberty76 ,Jul 30 '04
Pros: None Cons: Very slow and tedious to play, easy to defeat.
Anyone who played this as a kid should stay away from the Hasbro computer version. The Parker Brothers would roll over in their graves if they saw how the CD compares to the original game.
1) 3-D graphics look OK, but the Pieces can barely be distinguished from each other.
2) Takes forever to load and painfully slow to play. (My computer is new and quite fast with other games.) Theres a little battle after each piece is taken-Big Deal!
3) Not only slow but the Artificial Intelligence is even worse. No challenge to defeat game.
4) No way to pre-load games with different strategies like other Strategy-like games that sell on the Internet.
5) Pieces are numbered exactly opposite of original game board. (#1 is the Scout)
Don't waste your money. I'll lay Dollars to Donuts that the computer geniuses that developed the software never played the game as kids. It seems that Hasbro just used the very marketable name of Stratego to hack out software with absolutely no commitment to simulating the real game.
