I upgraded from an old grandmother's sewing machine with straight and zig-zag stitch to this computerized machine and it was worth every penny! It cost just a few pennies under $200 at Walmart. The instructions are easy to read, the DVD that came with ...
Pros: Pretty much everything!
Cons: So cheap, it's more likely to be thrown away than fixed
I bought this machine from Costco for under $200 and have used it a lot in the last couple of years. I've sewn pretty much everything with it, and it has held up well. I've even transported it (carried it around) to a local sewing class and it has ...
Pros: Easy to use Cons: Noisier than the old model
I got mine at Costco for $180 with a few extra options like the 1/4" foot and the extended table for quilting. It's an improvement on the previous model as this does not have the cassette thread system which was prone to foul ups AND the new model can ...
Pros: Fully featured computerized machine with lots of accessories. Cons: No presser foot tension adjustment. Light is not bright, blue cast.
I have had this machine for over one year now. I bought it from Wal-mart after my Singer thread tension would no longer adjust. For about twice what repairing that would cost I got this really feature-loaded computerized sewing machine. I shopped ...
Brother CS-2000 Computerized Sewing Machine by dfhl923 ,Feb 02 '06
Pros: accessories, 3 speed control of stitching, easy needle thread Cons: special size bobbin
What a great buy! This machine does all that the Viking Scandinavia 2000 will do only $450.00 cheaper. It has 60 fabulous and versitile stitch functions with a mirror image for reversals and other basic and intricate stitches for basic hemming/stitching,decorative stitches and edging. It gives 7 foot choices and an easy to read LCD panel for those who are unsure of what presser foot to put on. You can automatically lengthen or shorten your stitch length and tension control. It's a great machine to start with if you are a novice to sewing or crafts. You get extra bobbins (needs a special size) and needles with your accessory pack. I couldn't say more about this wonderful machine. For those of you considering to take up sewing don't be intimidated by the computer aspect of the machine - embrace it for its ease and comfort.
This machine could be used by the disabled, in my opinion. by farm601 ,Feb 02 '06
Pros: Love the light weight feature. Cons: Haven't discovered any yet.
I just bought this machine for a lightweight travel alternative to my Bernina. I have a son who was born with Spina Bifida and uses a wheelchair. I have been playing with the features and figured out that the #37 piecing stitch could be used by someone without use of their legs by slowing down the speed of the machine and using the "on"/"off" button which requires you to disconnect the foot pedal. At the slower speed, I believe, someone could do simple piecing by starting and stopping the machine with their finger rather than their foot. In the 26 years my son has been alive, I have not come across a product like this that is this affordable. What a great feature for someone who is not able to use their legs!
My third sewing machine by nanaspocket ,Jul 02 '07
Pros: Love the stitch options, easy to thread and easy bobbin threader Cons: You cannot use this for heavy fabrics, especially jeans. No automatic tension set.
the first was a Kenmore and I had that for 35 years but it didn't have the bells and whistles I wanted because it was an older model. Then I bought a Singer and burned it up in just a couple of months. Then I bought this Brother ES 600i. It is great for sewing just about anything EXCEPT heavy fabrics and jeans which frustrates the heck out of me because that is the fabric I mainly sew! I am going to get a heavier machine of some sort and save this one for linings and light work.
Love my Brother CS 6000!! by elliemae55 ,Dec 04 '05
Pros: excellent machine for anyone. well worth the money. Cons: haven't found any yet.
Pros: Love everything about it.
Con: None
I love my Brother CS 6000 computerized sewing machine!! I got it for an early Christmas present; and I have been sewing up a storm!! This is by far the best machine I personally have ever owned!! All you have to do is punch a button and the machine tells you exactly what foot to use, automatically sets the tension and stitches for the mode you want. It is wonderful and I would recommend this machine to anyone who wants to sew or already sews. In fact, my mother-in-law liked it so well she bought one too!! I got mine on line for $128.00. They sell for $200.00 at Wal-Mart. But well worth every dime whatever you spend for it!!
Got my money back - Lousy service - Not for heavy duty sewing by cmarconi ,Mar 19 '06
Pros: Good for beginning and light to medium sewing. Easy to understand. Cons: Service limited. Grinds sewing heavy fabric like jean hems. Not heavy duty enough.
Bought in Dec. 05. Loved it at first although not good with multiple thickness. Then feed dog button "hung up". Brother sent me to nearest repair service. They refused to repair because I bought it at WalMart. They say that Brother has agreement with WalMart that machines have to be sent to Tennessee by WalMart and that Brother doesn't reimburse for service even under warrenty. Not wanting to go months without a machine I asked for my money back which WalMart granted. The manager said they had had five machines returned since Christmas. Took my money and bought a Viking!
Pros: Easy to use, many features, low price. Cons: NONE
I have been sewing for many years and have had several machines.
Eight years ago I purchased a Viking embroidery sewing machine and was using it for embroidery as well as general sewing. I found that my sewing tasks would be easier if I had a machine for each purpose, one for embroidery and one for general sewing.
I chose the Brothers for general sewing because Brothers has an excellent name in the embroidery world and this particular machine has many stitch options. I brought this machine home and began to use it right away, I did not even use the CD instructions that came with the machine just the instruction book.
The machine is lightweight, portable, has easy to read instruction book and has lots of extras.
I purchased this same machine for my daughter for Christmas.
This is the best general purpose machine that I have ever owned.
I have not found anything negative about this machine.
