Pros: fun, versatile, comfortable, durable, great for micro movement toning and balance Cons: stuck plug so we can't deflate it, we'll eventually bore of it
My husband keeps injuring himself playing basketball. Each time, the doctor sends him for physical therapy and he works at improving his strength and balance… until the insurance stops paying. Well, the last time he hurt himself (torn calf muscle), he ...
Pros: Versatile, limitless, easy to use, beautiful. Cons: Wish it had better handles on the underside.
The first time I saw a BOSU ball, I had to laugh at it. It looks like a deformed and stunted version of a Swiss exercise ball. Then my husband and I kept injuring our ankles in martial arts, and someone recommended the BOSU for strengthening our ankles. ...
Pros: Highly effective and easy to use. Cons: Possibly Pricey to those who need one at home.
I am a trainer and work for the Portland Air Force Reserves Fitness Center. Our gym carries many exercise machine and a equipment and one of the more popular equipment is the BOSU Balance Trainer. I recommend this to many people who work out because it ...
Pros: Helps work those hard to work muscles Cons: If you have bad ankles or knees, may want help at first

this is GREAT for working out... just be cautious by WRKOUTGRL1 ,May 20 '05
Pros: terrific head-to-toe workout Cons: little tough for some people to get used to, takes a few times to practice
This is a wonderful product for a variety of workouts... you can do rehab or strengthening exercises for ankle and knee problems, or you can use it as a great substitute for a bench (or step, whichever you choose to call it)... someone on here said it is not good for losing weight, well I must disagree on that... I have taken BOSU classes and work up an unbelievable sweat whether I am at the gym in a class, or by myself. You must, however, be very careful when you begin working on this, it is not something you can just go full-force on the first time because it is designed to be an unstable surface, you have to learn how to step up and down on it. The first couple times I tried using this, I felt like a clumsy little kid, kept falling off and losing my balance... but that is the beauty, this is designed to be a core trainer, and my core was pretty unstable. My advice is, dont get discouraged if you are clumsy at the start, keep trying and you will see amazing results, in your coordination, balance, endurance and muscularity.
The BOSU is one of the best fitness tools on the market by tom_dalton-05 ,Mar 07 '05
Pros: inflates to 10 inches, does not lose air nor pop out of its frame. Cons: ith lack of balance and core strength a factor in many injuries
I purchased this item in x-mas of 2004 for my wife from http://www.discountproductsmall.com It is a very fun equipment to use, jumping up and down and learning to balance on the BOSU. The BOSU is one of the best fitness tools on the market, very versatile and challenging, and there's something for everybody. With lack of balance and core strength a factor in many injuries, this is a great way to train.
Good for balance training, but not for working out. by youngandfit ,Apr 08 '05
Pros: Good to help balancing. Cons: Bad for trying to lose any weight, easy to fall over, and price.
This is similar to a yoga ball, except it is the top 1/3'd of the ball cut off and put onto a big circle. There are quite a few exercises to do on this, but they are mainly focused on making yourself more flexible and increasing your balance. If you take dance classes, this would help you with some ballet and a jazz moves. But, if you are trying to loose weight or get stronger muscles, then this would just be a waste of money. But, if your looking for a really comfy, low seat, than this is one of the comfiest you can get. Be sure not to have ANY sharp of very hard objects near you, because if you lean just a little to far, you can fall smack over and maybe even twist your ankle. An example of one of the exercises are putting your left or right leg on the center of the dome, and lifting the other leg up and holding. If you flip the dome over, than you can do push-ups that also help your balancing.
Pros: Builds stamina
makes you feel GREAT!
easy to learn
FUN!
challenging!
Cons: NONE!
BOSU is GREAT!
From the beginning,I liked this item.
Some of it I was good at first at,and some areas,I was very wobbly!I used it for 10 minutes the first time.
The second time I used it,EVERYTHING that I was wobbly at,the first try,I was now,a bit more stable!
ALSO I managed to stay on it for 20 minutes this time.
one or two of the exercises I needed to skip a couple reps within one set,but overall, felt good and wanted to go on.
I have done three more days in a row doing the first two programs, and I FEEL GREAT!!!!!!
My abs are UNBELIEVABLE! and please keep in mind,I am still about 25 pounds overweight.BUT! I can notice this firmness throughout my body that was lacking before.ALSO a will to do this again later today as well as tomorrow.
That is never usually the way with me.
I get bored FAST!
I have a hard time staying motivated....but NOT WITH BOSU!
I am so glad I found this!
GIVE THIS ITEM A CHANCE!
BOSU...a fun and versatile piece of equipment by pilateschick ,Oct 03 '03
Pros: Fun, very versatile. Did I mention that it's fun?
Cons: Kinda large to store. Too round for jumping work!
At 24" across, and about 12" inflated, the BOSU takes a bit of space to store -- still, it's less space than an inflated exercise ball, and a heck of a lot more fun. I use it for Pilates exercises that are usually done on an Arc barrel, half barrel or spine corrector (each of those typically costs $150 -$200, and they all take more room to store.) Great for: leg circles, frog, bicycle, windmill legs, leg kick ups, arm circles, porte de bras, and more.
In addition to Pilates-style exercises, the BOSU with the round side up is great for balance work -- sitting, kneeling, standing, jumping, or in push-up position. Flip it over, and you've got a wobble board that can be used in many positions as well.
I believe there are about 10 videos on the market for the BOSU at the moment. 2 are from Stott Pilates, 2 are from Body Bar, and the rest are from Fitness Quest (the manufacturer of the BOSU)
