Pros: Portable, adequate picture and sound Cons: Batteries only last about 2 hours
We got this portable DVD player as a gift to entertain the children on the long plane ride from Boston to California. We have since used it in the car and on other occasions where the children need some quiet entertainment. Overall, the performance has ...
Pros: It's inexpensive, plays VCDs, and resists skipping. Cons: No integrated way to attach to a car seat.
We were going on a 6-hour road trip and wanted something to occupy our two year old daughter who usually can't sit still for more than 5 minutes. Enter the Audiovox D1500A. First, it was dirt-cheap. I paid $200 for this sucker on Amazon. I was leery ...
Pros: Inexpensive
Loaded with equipment
Sturdy
Versitile Cons: Heavy
Heat buildup
Occasional read errors
I know, I see it in your eyes. You ogle over the portable DVD player for rent at the airport, but don't want to take a risk on such an expense. You see businessmen and students watching their own movies on a plane, while your stuck with the latest...
-Update:06/22/01-
Now, I've had sometime to test this unit and find any problems this player has, and I have come across a few. Mostly, it has to do with read errors. Ocassionally the player will refuse to read a disc, or freeze during the play of...
Pros: Portable, low cost, doubles as a home DVD player Cons: Heat build up
I was looking for a mobile audio/video system and researched a few options.
I found that a low cost mounted system in your car will be $200 for the DVD player, $200 for the monitor, and figure $100+ for the FM Modulator and misc cables. These...
Pros: This unit comes with everything anyone needs to use at home, or in the car. Cons: It skipped, froze, pixilated or completely locked-up on every dvd title. Lots of heat.
Initially, I was impressed with all the features that this machine possesed, as well as the build qu ...
Pros: Portable, Quality Image Cons: Short Battery life. But can be overcome, (see below) sound can too.
Ok im not going to repeat what others have said. All in all it is an awesome machine except for the short battery life. But who wants to pay $79.00 for another 2.2 hour battery? Not me. My soulution is easy. Go to the store and purchase a Portable...
Pros: Very convenient, easy to carry, easy to use Cons: Short battery life, skips easily
I bought this product specifically to use on airplanes when I first got it was only then that I learned that I could also use it as a DVD player on my TV. The unit is so small and easy to carry, I am amazed at how well it works. I have enjoyed many a...
Best DVD Player at $225 or Less by choosyconsumer ,Oct 11 '03
Pros: Big screen at this price, good picture and sound, compatible with many formats Cons: Can freeze on VCDs, builds up heat quickly
This used to sell for over $350 but has come down to $225 or so. Plays many formats including VCD (those new to VCD just look at ebays many VCDs). Clearly the best buy in DVD players under $225 with its large screen, good sound, set of accessories, and multiple compatibilities.
Screen freezes up with battery power by shocker27 ,Apr 20 '04
Pros: Small and good clarity Cons: Screen freezes up with battery power
I took this on a long 15 hour flight trip to entertain my 1.5 year old daughter. I used battery power to play a DVD, after a few minutes of playing, the screen froze up and we could only hear the audio but not see anything. I powered off the unit and tried after a few minutes, same problem. At the hotel after the flight I tried playing a DVD using the AC power outlet and it worked fine.

Pros: Superb Picture Quality on a screen you can take with you anywhere. Cons: It doesn't come with the dvd's, you buy them separate.
I used to hate going on trips with the family because the way there and back were so boring and lengthy. But now it has changed. With this portable DVD player I have bought my "road trips" with the family and friends are so much better. When going on a drive that will take four or more hours, pop in a cd and they seem like nothing. These portable DVD players not only make your ride seem short, but they also enhance the fun you have, if you used to have any at all. Not to mention the high quality picture, great sound, and very easy to use DVD player you get, this is a must have, even just for some fun, for anyone who is going to be traveling anywhere, even if it isn't a trip that will take four hours or more.
This is a really neat... by margo_dt3000 ,May 16 '02
This is a really neat little entertainment center, but the battery is the pits! This is absolutely a dysfunctional feature--- and almost needs some type of miniature bungee cords to hold it on!
The battery attachment is a very poorly developed feature---but otherwise it is pretty cool. It has excellent sound for listening to audio CD's of voice files.
The worst thing about this... by tony_r_dt3000 ,Feb 25 '02
The worst thing about this unit is the battery . With the weight of the battery there could have been another way to mount the batttery to the system , becaust the battery is too heavy for the tabs that hold the battery. When moving the unit the battery has the potential to snap the tabs and will no longer be useful
