Since we had the same computer for almost two years, it was time for us to upgrade. I know ASUS doesn't compromise when it comes to quality, reliability, etc. This is the reason I have ordered the system with an ASUS A7S333 system...
Pros: Easy setup, jumperless CPU/RAM settings, comes with a good software suite Cons: Onboard audio, though this is only a con if you happen to dislike it.
I bought an ASUS A7S333 to replace my A7V266 (which had fried due to a faulty power supply). In a matter of 20 minutes or so, I was able to swap the mainboards, set all of the applicable jumpers (I had to set one, to disable the onboard audio) and...
Pros: DDR333, Latest XP chips, CPU Overheat Protection and more. Cons: Habit of hibernating at startup if idle for 3 mins.
I bought this motherboard about 2 months ago from the local computer store. After spending a long time researching different types of motherboards, inexpensive and not, I settled on this one. This motherboard was quite new and supported the latest athlon...
Pros: Cheap, fast, easy installation, jumperless settings, good layout. Cons: SiS chipset is not reliable. Often resets for no reason, overclocking difficulties, no LAN
I bought this motherboard because it was the cheapest Asus board that fitted for me. I regret, I think Via chipset would have been better for me. SiS is not reliable and overclocking possibilities are low: when I change the settings, my computer just...
I use Windows XP, Athlon XP2100 ,& 512mb ddr2700 mem, nvidia gf4mx440. Solved the freezing problem by disabling the 6 channel built-in c-media pci audio and installing SB blaster live! audio card. Now its working perfectly. Very fast, all my programs work Everything is ok now. But I will not buy this motherboard again
Basicaly this is the worst board I have ever used in the past 20 years.
This is not a board to use if you play games. It will crash and reboot almost every 15 mins.
ASUS have never answered any emails or posts on their forum.
I am now trying to get a refund.
I use Windows XP, Athlon XP2000 with 512DDR. First I used this motherboard with Hercules Prophet 4500 and from the very begining Windows kept crashing at random intervals. I had updated video driver, which helped. Ghost Recon, Soldier of Fortune II kept crashing soon after starting though. I have upgrated video card to GeForce4 Ti 4200 with 128 Mb DDR,and to my dissapintnment those games, plus Americas Army still kept crashing. I tried different video drivers with no possitive effect. Finally I had changed Ram to a better quality, and now I can happily play any of my shooters at max settings.
Overal, I still think it is a good motherboard, just make sure that you will buy a good quality ram.
the asus A7S333 plays every game that i have flawlessly i dont know what the problem is ive not had any problems with this mb. would advise anyone who knows how to build thier own to use this mb.
While this motherboard seems to get good reviews, I would consider other options. I expected a lot more from Asus. Performance is good. But the motherboard I bought was bad. I had AGP problems from the start. The system locked up whenever booting into XP. I tried three different video cards and none of them would work with the motherboard. I called Asus to get technical support, they put me on a waiting list taking my name and number and said they would call me back. They never did. If you can get it to work, it might be a good board, but I had so many problems with this board that I don't recommend it.

After buying this m/b and finding it crashing when trying to run games. I found a forum on the asus web site that was full of people having severe stability problems with this m/b All in all the lemon in the Asus stable, beware!
To end it all I used the Asus flash utility to update the BIOS, this worked perfectly and trashed the bios, I can't even boot from a floppy and get back to the old BIOS, so I am trying for a refund from the suppliers.
I installed the board with no problems. Booted perfectly. I couldn't tell I'd changed anything. Screen redraws are slow but I had 300Mb of ram on the old board. I couldn't afford but a 128Mb chip for the new board. When funding improves I'll get 256Mb more ram and things should be fine.

I've been building PCs for years and I used this board with and AMD Athlon 1900 , 512mb ram (from Crucial), and a Geforce Pro 450 video card on Windows XP.
From my experiences, I've found problems with motherboards have primarily occured from using incompatible or poor quality memory.
Always get good memory (I recommend Crucial).
The ASUS board and PC are runnning flawlesly.
