Pros: DTS, Affordable, 3 S-Video/ 3 Optical Inputs Cons: Not THX, No Component Video, Bad Remote
You must be building a home theater. If you are anything like me, you are surprised at how much one can spend on a surround receiver. After seeing the incredible price tags on some THX systems, I asked some friendly experts what they would spend for a...
Pros: Excellent sound, speaker binding posts, delivers full power to 4 ohm loads, automatic surround mode Cons: Too many 2-channel modes, confusing remote, no line level center channel output
The STR-DE675 provides the necessary performance with respect to decoding ability, frequency response, and stable power output to be at the heart of any home theater system.
Pros: Great sound. Lots of options. Sleek Design. Good Connections. Cons: Tough to hook up.
I recently purchased this amazing Sony receiver. I bought it as an open box buy for almost half the normal price. The receiver was tough to hook up because of the circular twisting connector things on the back of the receiver (not sure what they are ...
Pros: Good Price- quality of brand- good inputs Cons: small button remote- needs a better E.Q.
Well I definately would recommend the 675- I use it for my computer, PS-2, cd player, tv, vcr, and guitar multi-effects processor... the sound quality is amazing- the price is also very reasonable and sony makes high quality products.. my only complaint...

Best purchase I have made... by brewbee_dt3000 ,Jun 19 '02
Best purchase I have made in a while. Custom naming of inputs a bonus. Sound quality is excellent, and I love the blue light coming on when DTS or 5.1 is going through it. Able to fine tune speaker balance in all directions, and even sub-woofer crossover point. Built in eq settings allow a standard signal to have a virtual surround. I love it, wish I bought it sooner. Highly recommend! Cannot go wrong with a SONY.
Great looks & sound for... by vfrman_dt3000 ,Feb 05 '03
Great looks & sound for the price. Provides for naming of input sources and looks great when decoding multi-channel input as it activates a funky blue indicator light on the front panel!! No more wondering if you are actually hearing DTS or Dolby Digital rather than just Pro Logic!! Provides a fairly comprehensive set of effects that can be applied to the source material as well as an "auto detect" function where the receiver detects the input and applies the correct decoding. Overall a very impressive "entry level" AV receiver that you may well find yourself keeping for quite some time!! Recommended.
