Pros: Good audio and video quality. Small, light, portable, durable, great for mobile use. Cons: Won't play CD-RW VCDs.
I consider myself an "early adopter" of new technology, so
I've been buying DVD players for quite some time now. When
I bought this DVD player a few months ago, it was my 5th.
The reason that I bought it was because I decided that I

Pros: Small, great video, very light, portable Cons: Problems playing with VCD, huge remote, Slow to start, resume mode not consistent
The XD-DV170 is a tad disappointing compared with it's big brother the XD-DV370... Although both of them took a while to load the DVD/CD, it is understandable for the XD-DV370 since it supports MP3s while the XD-DV170 doesn't.... Which is why it...
Pros: Compact size, lightweight, user friendly, sturdy design. Cons: DC adapter sold separately for $30.00. The remote control could be smaller.
I purchased my Aiwa XD-DV170 DVD player a few weeks ago, and have loved it since I opened the box. The unit itself is smaller than many books I've read. It has all the features of my full size DVD player (and even some extras). I use mine in the kitchen,...
Pros: Small Size Cons: Trouble playing CD's, Load time too long, quit working completely after 3 months.
I suppose some of this is my fault. Like the fact that I waited too long to return the unit or at least get warranty repair in time. From the beginning I had trouble with the unit playing many of my compact discs. It would take about 30-45 seconds...
Worked great for the first three months... by rswreview ,Dec 06 '04
Pros: Easy to move around from one place to another, very compact and easy to use. Cons: Not a good choice for long-term use.
We purchased this DVD Player for our bedroom and were attracted to its compact size and portability feature. It is extremely user-friendly as is the remote control (many DVD players come with awkwardly designed remotes and not so user friendly functions). Like most other DVD players in its generation, this one does not read coded DVDs nor does it read VCDs or CD-RWs. The audio/video was great and setup was very simple.
What I liked was the fact that I could pack it into a backpack with just one set of cords and play it practically anywhere which was convenient for travel. I also liked the ease of use and user-friendly remote and functions.
What I didn't like was that after about 3 months, the DVD player would get "jammed" and pause on its own in the middle of a movie and then display an "error, no disc" message on its screen. Another noticeable kink was that with further use, the player would make an annoying grating noise while playing any DVD and we would be forced to endure that noise throughout the entire DVD or try to position the player in such a way to avoid the sound.
I BUY THE UNIT FOR ALMOST A MONTH BUT THE UNIT IS NOT DURABLE COZ I BRING IT 2 TIMES TO THE SERVICE CENTER(OPEN)ERROR ALWAYS APPEAR TO THE SCREEN. NOW I'M LOOKING FOR A BUYER OF MY UNIT.
