Pros: Large car with big engine for about $30,000 loaded Cons: Not especially sporty, comfortable, or fun to drive The Bottom Line: The Super Sport needs a lot more sport.
The 2000-2005 Impala was a car I only once got excited about, and that's when my father-in-law informed me that his had gotten 35 miles-per-gallon on a tank of gas on the way from Arkansas to Michigan. The relatively recent re-introduction of the SS with ...

Pros: Good handling and decent styling. Good value for money. Cons: Dashboard styling. Rear window visibility. Acceleration just adequate. The Bottom Line: The 2006 Chevy Impala offers good performance on most fronts for a reasonable price.
I recently had the opportunity to rent a 2006 Chevy Impala over five days. I drove the vehicle about 350 miles, with about half the mileage in the city and half on highways, which included some smaller roads through the foothills near Denver, CO. I ...

Pros: Powerful engine; flexible cargo configurations; excellent handling… Cons: See Review The Bottom Line: While the 2003 Chevrolet Impala represented the right balance of the luxury, roominess, power, and exterior beauty, the 2006/2007 Chevrolet Impala LS falls short on almost ever yardstick.

Pros: Fit and finish, looks, refinement, handling, ride, brakes Cons: Rear visibility, tight steering at parking speed The Bottom Line: Recommended. Value for the money is unsurpassed. Looks and feels like a more expensive car. Previous model was very reliable.
The 2006 Chevy Impala that I am reviewing is actually my 72 yr. old mother's car. Impala LT in Glacier Blue with Grey interior and silver accents.I helped her pick it out and drove it home (she was too exhausted after crying on the way to the dealer ...

Pros: Power, comfort, space, reliability Cons: Gas mileage The Bottom Line: If you're at all intrigued by the Impala, take a look at it, it's a great car as long as you keep its intended purpose in mind.
When our twin boys arrived, increasing our family from one to three children under the age of 3, my VW Jetta turbo wagon was traded in on a new Toyota Sienna. Of course my wife was driving the Sienna, and I inherited her Mercury Mountaineer. Very ...

Pros: Competitively priced, optional factory remote start, spacious, powerful, comfortable, updated look and terrific daily driver. Cons: 3.9L fuel economy is not great. The Bottom Line: Good solid vehicle, with luxury and a touch of sport. It's fun to drive, it is quick, and yet comfortable on everyday roads.
The 2006 Impala is built on an updated W-Body platform, which has been around for a couple decades now. In 1996, I bought a 1992 Lumina Euro with the 3.1L that was also a W-body and survived a harsh life before and during my ownership. All-in-all, I ...

Pros: Fun. Powerful V8 Engine. Has a solid Luxury quality feel. Fun (Did I say that?) Cons: Rear visibility poor. Some won't like the simple style. The Bottom Line: Quality built. Proven Chevy performance. Puts the "fun" back into driving. Can't you see me smiling?
A few weeks ago I received a brochure from GM in the mail introducing the new 2006 Impala. On the front of the brochure is silver 2006 Impala SS. Looking at the photo I was not overly impressed. The new design looked stylish but in a generic way. ...

Pros: Good dependabilty, good MPG, comfortable, pleasant console design, nice sound system. Cons: Intake manifold gasket leak may be a common problem. The Bottom Line: I would buy this car again, it is a comfortable blend of economy and luxury.
I have been impressed by two other Chevys I have owned so when I sold my last horse and traded my pick up in for a car I chose the Impala LT for the Chevy dependability and good gas mileage. The LT model gives you a 3.5 V6 engine, 211-horsepower, ...

Pros: Incomparable acceleration, superb handling, excellent audio, quiet cabin, superior fit and finish. Cons: DIC lettering could dim more at night, lack of availability of OEM Navigation system. The Bottom Line: The new 2006 Chevrolet Impala SS is simply the best sports sedan available on the market today, is a compelling buy and easily competes with the very best foreign competition.
This car is simply the best automobile Chevrolet has offered for sale in a very, very long time. It is a grand example of sports sedan combined with high quality highway cruiser with its powerful engine, superior fit and finish, quiet cabin interior, ...

Pros: Impressive performance, 18'' wheels are gorgeous, remote start, Bose sound system Cons: Fuel mileage not up to specs, no telescoping steering wheel, indistinguishable rear end. The Bottom Line: For under 30k, one would be hard pressed to match this car. It is much improved over previous model year Impalas. Great car for the money!
I have had my '06 SS for 1 month and let me say, WOW! Black with ebony leather interior, yeah! My car has me so excited that I wanted to write my very first review on Epinions, so I hope I do an adequate job for everyone. Chevrolet really did their ...

Pros: I get to return it in a week. Cons: Big, Slow, Uncomfortable, Ugly, Gas Guzzler. The Bottom Line: Thankfully this oversized box of crap was only a rental.
The rental place talked me into an impala because it had XM radio. I've always wondered what satellite radio was like, so I figured I could give it a shot. Sure enough, there was no XM radio. What I did get was a car that was ugly, too long to parallel ...

Love my SS! Fun to drive!

Pros: POWER! Audio! Cons: Seat lateral support
I have owned Hondas, Acura, and Nissan for the last 25 years. I like good handling and tight steering. At first I was skeptical about the Impala. However, I am VERY impressed with the Impala SS my husband bought for me. There is certainly no shortage of power with the V8, and it is fun to drive. There is some torque steer with acceleration, but nothing that can't be handled if you're aware of it. The Bose system is awesome. The seats could use a little more lateral support, but other than that, I have absolutely no complaints. Great job, GM!!

Pros: Engine, Interior Comfort, Fit N Finish Cons: Very small side view mirrors
I recently had the pleasure of test driving a 2006 Impala LT with the 3.9L V-6 and it was a true joy. In my opinion the styling of the Impala is great with a multitude of nice features like flip n fold rear seats, radio and climate controls with a minimal amount of buttons, comfy-supportive seats, and excellent fit n finish inside and out. The engine had excellent performance and the transmission shifted smoothly. Although, I cannot attest to the long term reliability of the Impala, I think it should be fairly good considering it is built in Oshawa, Ontario, a highly ranked assembly plant by JD Power and Associates. I can't wait until I can purchase one of these cars as they represent value in terms of quality, price, and refinement.
11/06
I've purchased a 2006 Impala 3LT with the 3.9 V6 and let me tell you that this is a great car. It looks great, it drives nicely, and has a lot of excellent features especially the warm interior, easy to use radio buttons, great visually appealing gauges, and comfortable seats. I get around 26 MPG on a mixed 75/25 highway/city driving, which isn't bad.

Impala LTZ is a very good car

Pros: GM hit a homerun with this car and I am not a GM fun. Cons: The back seats could use a little more leg room.
I love my Impala LTZ. I bought it three weeks ago and I have been getting over 20 mpg all city driving. The car is very smooth and quiet and the engine has a lot of power. I don't undertand why some people don't think the car has a good looking exterior, I think the car looks great. I also love the interior, but the back seats could use more leg room.
