super-b's Full Review: Remington Microflex R-860 Electric Shaver
I purchased the Remington MicroFlex R860 quite some time ago. I was skeptical about electric razors but after borrowing a friends razor, I realized not all electric razors were that bad.
After the initial charge I was able to shave my face with very little to know irritation, but my neck was a different story. After a month or so of using it on my neck I gave up. The razor continued to pull the hair out leaving me in pain and a roughed up neck. Red blotches of irritated skin everywhere.
It's better than an old foil shaver I used but a little louder. It has a fairly loud whining sound, but not to bad. It's definitely bearable, as long as you don't shave all day.
I only use the Remington R860 when I don't feel like lathering up for a real shave. It does leave my face pretty smooth, but not as smooth as a conventional razor. Considering I only use the Remington R860 about 2 or 3 times a week I figured the blades should last me quite some time...but not so. I feel the blades starting to do more ripping now, than cutting. This in turn, leaving me more red than I'd like to be.
The battery time on this shaver is decent with an 8 hour total recharge time. That's fine by me, seems how I don't plan on shaving every 7 hours. I only recharge it about every two-three weeks.
The shaver is also operational while it's plugged in. I prefer this method because I know the blades are spinning at their max revs. all the time. I don't have to worry about them slowing down and roughing me up.
Who should use this razor?
Somebody that has rough skin all around, especially your neck area. It's not a bad razor, but I probably wouldn't purchase the Remington R860 again because I rely more on a conventional razor to shave my face. But it's nice to have one around in case I need it.
