Disney's Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue is the most enjoyable dinner-show I've ever been to. It far eclipses Medievil Times and Arabian Nights in terms of food and fun.
This is a show we'd seen a few times before, but it never stops being fun. Though expensive at $49.01 for adults and $24.81 for children ages 3-11, gratuity and tax not included, we feel that it's well worth the cost. This past spring was the first time we took our kids to see it (9 & 5), and they loved it as well.
This dinner show is located in Pioneer Hall in Fort Wilderness. The best way to get there is to take a launch from the Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness and then it's just a short walk from the marina. A few years ago we made the mistake of driving over and waiting for a bus, only to end up missing our show when it took 45 minutes for us to get a bus from the parking lot to Pioneer Hall. Learn a lesson from us and give yourself plenty of time.
We had a table right on the floor one row back from the stage. The meal starts out with salad and rolls. One of the things we talk about from here is the butter! I don't know if it's honey butter or sweetened some other way, but it's absolutely the best butter I've ever had in my life.
Once everyone is seated, the show starts. The show is slapstick humor. Though somewhat scripted, there is room for improvisation. We were there on February 29th, so there were a lot of leap year jokes. The audience gets very involved, so if you don't like that sort of attention, this may not be the show for you. If the audience is really into it, you get a fantastic show. We once saw a large group leave in the middle of the show and it threw the performers for a loop.
When the performers take a break you get your dinner of fried chicken and ribs. Everything is all you can eat, so just ask for more of anything. They used to serve corn-on-the-cob, and we were disappointed this time when it had been replaces by corn in a dish. My kids ate fine, but if you think your kids won't eat the fare, you can make a special request and it usually will be honored. For dessert there was strawberry shortcake.
We're taking a break from the show this year, but it's on our lists to go back to again once the baby is a bit older. I think this is a must do if you can afford it!
