My wife and I stayed at Reef Lanai back in Sept 98 and again Sept 00. This hotel's best asset is its location and rate. Its web page is www.ohanahotels.com/details/property.asp?h_id=5
It's located 1 block from Waikiki beach next to Fort De Russy Park. Halekulani Hotel (5 start hotel) is near by and you can enjoy nightly live entertainment for price of a drink. Near by Waikiki Parc hotel offers one of best buffet values in Hawaii.
We had Entertainment rate at $75/night for a ocean view room which is a bargain in Waikiki area. Kitchenette rooms are available too for those who wants to save money on dining. The parking is $8/night but it's unavoidable in Waikiki. The hotel is not fancy but it's reasonable well kept and clean. The hotel doesn't have pool nor restaurant. However, you can use the pool at its near by sister hotels. Free continental breakfast but there are several restaurants within walking distance include McDonald's.
The hotel charges $3.50/night for resort fee(?) which include free local & 800 phone calls, in-room safe usage, etc but we didn't use any of this thus no charge. Entertainment rate which gives you 50% discount on the regular rate (listed on the web) is available at most of Ohana and Outrigger hotels. Entertainment rate at Reef Lanai is an excellent Waikiki hotel value.
