I've lived here all my life, and I've got to say that although it gets extremely cold in winter (-40 c, Quebec City rocks if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to Europe. There are lots of landmarks to see (Chateau Frontenac, plains of abraham, citadel, parliament, etc) and also alot of beautiful (& very old) architecture in what we call "le vieux quebec" (- old quebec) There are horse-ridden carriage rides in summer and sleigh rides in winter around the city, which is quite romantic. I could go on and on, but I suggest you see it for yourself!!
P.S: If you're ever in Quebec in the spring, go to a sugar shack.... yum!
