| mrsrgm's Full Review: Southwest Airlines |
My eleven year old son has been flying back and forth between me and his dad since he was six. Southwest Airlines is the best. He used to fly another major airline, but they added a "Unidentified Minor" fee of $30 each way. That is $60 extra dollars simply to put him on the plane and take him off. That is a great service when or if your child ever needs to change planes, but all mine does is get on and off. $60 was half of the plane fare I had already paid.
Besides not having that additional charge, I love the fact that I can book my son's flights over the internet. You can't do that with other airlines, they say you must purchase ticketless travel for minors at the airport. How inconvenient is that? The only thing with Southwest is that they will not book "UM" ticketless travel in person (I was at the airport once and thought it would be simpler to purchase it then and I couldn't). You must purchase over the phone or by internet, but most of the time that is the easiest.
Also, their Rapid Rewards program is the best. We flew another airline for three years before my son got a free ticket (and that is flying every other week-end, all year long). With Rapid Rewards, he has gotten two free tickets this year. Booking over the internet gives you extra credit for tickets, which is a nice little benefit. The only thing I don't like is that you have to keep up with the little card, instead of just knowing your number, and you have to have it with you every time you fly to get credit.
Overall, Southwest is our favorite airline, and as much as we are at the airport, I'd say we are experts.
