Pros: Small neat interface, excellent operation with great controls.
Cons: None I can think of.
The Bottom Line: Get this if you don't have it, you will enjoy it for its perceived simplicity and its efficiency.

Shhh! Don't tell anyone. Have you ever had IBM Record Now? There are three free upgrade programs available at the IBM website. I couldn't promise you but they may upgrade your copy to Deluxe V7.0 or the new Deluxe V7.22. One of them contains 98.7Mb. for all languages and the others are 22-26Mb. for English. I have an old disk left over from my purchase of IBM drives several years back. As IBM uses different manufacturers for their drives their free upgrade looks for older versions of authorized software. Sonic's Record Now Deluxe V7.0 is the upgrade version I have been using for a while now until my latest free IBM upgrade to Sonic's Record Now Deluxe V7.22.
This is a great program I have used flawlessly in preference to any of my other burner programs. Those others have been many but never without flaws and this one was FREE from IBM as is its latest upgrade. I've used this program to burn ISOs, MP3s, Wave files, and anything else, I could throw at it to CDs and DVDs - and it has always performed flawlessly. The program is automatic in many operations making it very user friendly. It is almost idiot proof as it will explain each step and ask you about your actions also directing you. It has the ability to remember and record what it needs and makes burning media simple, quick, and efficient. I can't remember ever turning out a bad CD or DVD using it. The newest Sonic Version 7.22 corrects flaws some have experienced using some hardware and Window's Service Pack 2. There is also a patch for this available from Sonic. Of course, since this is my software and I have liked it so well, it has been on every computer I own (IBM drives or not).
This version, Sonic Record Now Deluxe V7, is a performer that has always worked properly for me. When you first install it you will go, ho hum, after you have used it you will go Wow! The program GUI or control panel is small but has everything you need in plain sight and right where it should be. My old IBM program disk was about 300Mb. but included other programs such as Veritas, DLA, and others. The upgrade is about 22Mb. What I'm saying is this is not a small program but it sure doesn't act complicated ever, not even as it installs.
The controls:
Just below the header, which automatically lists all connected reader and burner drives and allows you to quickly select the drive you want to burn with or read from, is a button that opens and closes the door for the selected drive with a mouse click. Beside this button, and in line with it, are four tabs. These tabs have icons of a house, a music note, a file, and double disks. All can be controlled with a mouse click.
The house has three quick start links which are Audio CD for Car or Home CD Player, Data Disc, and Exact Copy. There are also three utilities there which are Erase Disc, Finalize Disc, and Label Disc.
The music note tab has four audio programs - Audio CD for Car or Home CD Player, Exact Copy, Jukebox CD, and Listen to an Audio CD.
The file tab has two Data Projects, one is Data Disc and the other is Exact copy.
The final double disk tab has four Backup Projects. They are Exact Copy, File Archive, Save Image, and Burn Image.
Everything here has a short to the point description to guide you and you can drag and drop files or use the little browser which will pop up to find the files you are looking for.
